got a 98 cavvy and its got the 2200 engine in it, but it looks nothing like the 97 2.2L we have, totally different
what 2.2L is it? what vin code digit is the gm 2.2L and which is for isuzu or eco or whatever?
it looks nothing like a typical gm 2.2L at all.
it just says 2200 and its aluminum and totally odd looking.,
what were they doing with the engines after 98?
whats one of these engines worth with 97k miles on it in perfect condition?
500?
600?
or?
or is it even worth pulling and selling?
junk?

the only 2.2 in that model year was the 2200 ohv... the 2.2 ecotec came in 03.. there is no isuzu motor, only tranny.. but i could be wrong on that one, i dont know much about it...
now they've been making variations of that motor since the early 90's.. possible you have something else swapped in?
got a picture of your freak motor? lol.. just slightly curious..
but the engine code is the 8th digit of the VIN.. heres the GM list

98-02 base cars came with the 2200. Its a variant of the 2.2l that came 97 and earlier.
Looks like that right?
^brian, i have a nice gm strut bar that'd look mighty fine in that engine bay of your's

actually the ecotec first appeared in the jbodys in late 2002... in some of the sunfire gt's and cavalier z24's (or LS sports in the states)... some base models also had them
