As the title states, potentially a pretty dumb question but would like to know before I get started...
I have a 2002 Cavalier with 218k on it with a blown head gasket, I found an engine out of a 2000 Sunfire for around $450 that has 97k on it and am planning on swapping the two. They are both 2200's but the Sunfire had an automatic and I have a 5 spd. Will the Sunfire engine bolt right up without any special mods?
Thanks in advance to any an all assistance
It will definitely bolt up. You will need to swap the automatic flex plate for the manual flywheel, but you have both so no big deal. Just don't throw anything away or break anything from your motor in case some vac hoses are different. I can't remember if there are any other differences than the flywheel.

Don't manuals have that little guide piece in the middle of the crankshaft? Or is that just for SBC BBC? It is just a little insert that i think the tip of the input shaft sits in.
