On Friday, driving home from Mt High Resort after snowboarding, I somehow lost control of my car off Highway 2 at 60 mph. I do not recall whether it was caused my another car or not. I went str8 off down the slope into the terrain, then flipped it many times. I dont recall ever braking because it all happened too quick. My simple explanation is that I was probably driving to far to the right and it went off pavement. Im a pretty experience mountain driver so crashing for no reason doesnt make much sense.
Only thing I remember was that I heard loud booms, then flipped couple times, glass shattering allover, and airbags deploying. I think I was momentarily knocked the **** out. I can hardly remember anything thing from the point before the crash til near my release from the eR at the end. It was soo unreal and I was shocked that I came out in one piece after I realized what had happened. Next thing I vaguely remember was that I realized my car is upside down and that I must get outI somehow because it might catch on fire. I crawled out through the window, ran up the hill towards the road and tried to flag down any motorists without bothering to assesss the damage.
Fortunately, there was a good samaritan - A lady n her son who was boarding up there. I vaguely remember some other snowboarders stopping by to say that I shoud realize how really lucky I was and that I should stop bitching about my car being wrecked. THey thought I was totally incoherent and disoriented and suspected that I sustained a brain injury. They went back to my car and got my boarding jacket n pants andkeys from the car. Afterwards they took me to the firestation.
Next thing I remember is that I was in the ambulance then eR room in Colton with ivy tubes in my left arm. Then out of nowhere, a CHP officer appeared and asked me questions and gave me a breathlyzer test. I was later released that night to my parents after cat scans and xrays came out good. I got minor cuts, a concussion, and a whiplash.

Unfortunately I only have only liability. My reasoning was that I should rather save 1000 a year and not fully insure a car thats only worth 3-4k according to the BlueBook. Its my loss.
This Cav was my first car and I loved it alot. I think it looks really beautiful if you mod it right. I purchased it with 104k highway miles on December 2003 for 4300. It served me reliably and the only thing I ever had to replace was the leaky fuel pressure regulator. Only mods I done on it was tinting the tail lights, intake, and exhaust.
I wish I had for an Import Fighter bumper, Baer brake upgrade, Sparco Seats, Tein Coilovers, and Front/Rear Sway Bars.
One thing Im really glad and grateful for is how members in this forum quickly respond and help out one another. U get a solution to ur post really quick. Plus the owner of the forum - Dave - personally helped me out w my car on one occasion. This community seems really tight knit. :-)
Since Im planning to get a Lexus, I post questions on the ClubLexus forums also. People there arent as helpful nor as quick. Maybe theyre busy workin for their monthly car payments or somethin. Even though I dont have a j-body anymore, I still visit these forums here and there.

Did you ever figure out if it was a bad tire that caused that accident?

I have no idea.
This is almost exactly what happened to me

This is kinda trippy when I saw this on the news today. It was kind of like a reenactment of what happened to me. That guy ran off the slope of a similar incline , went as far I did down it, and sustained similar damage to his truck. INstead, mine landed on its top with the motor still running. Fortunately I did wore a seat belt unlike the passenger of that truck; he was ejected. The spot of my accident was scattered with random belongings of mine.

Hey, really? Thanks. I don't get comments on my car too often. Mostly I just get people asking me if I can do some sort of LED work for them. haha
Again, thanks. That brought a smile to my face.

Raptor...I just like your car for the turbo setup on it
I rode in Jon's car as it blew up...
As for the topic at hand...you think they'll total it?
Rough man, glad you made it out ok
That's not totaled....just a little scratch. lol
Man someone was looking out for you, glad to see you make it out of that alive. Never want to see a J owner hurt in his/her car.
And as much as we hate to see your car like that, it did what it was supposed to do....keep you safe.
have you tried buffing it out?? hahah
knowing your ok, alive and well a joke is in order
but sorry to hear that and you are damn lucky
o_O??
Amazing you walked away with a concussion and a few cuts. The car is totalled beyond repair... Thats one hardcore crash...
what a magnificent wreck! the experience is almosty worth the story and pictures!
WOW just now saw this post.
I agree with everyone else... looks like the tire blew out, which caused you to lose control... etc...
I've been in auto body/paint/collision repair for years... seen totalled cars come in and leave... and have never seen a tire look like that from an accident. I think your tire blew out.
Very glad to hear that you didn't have any major injuries and are ok.
Did you ever find anything else out about the crash? I'm sure if someone took the time they'd figure out what caused it (*cough* tire *cough*)
That happened to me to! Well i was in the middle of a reg. cab old dodge ram which just happened to have the door handles shaved. We were traveling down a gravel road going about 100kms/hr we hit a frost bole in the road (like a big pot hole) and the rear tire blew out and sent us into a nasty fish tale, we hit the ditch still going about 80kms on a slant and the stupid person who was driving decided to speed up and try to drive outta the ditch next thing i know i'm seeing grass in the windshield and I'm taking out the rearview mirror with my head. We were lucky though, the reason we rolled was cause when he tried to drive outta the ditch the font and back bumpers caught the sides of the ditch and sent us straight up in the air in a barrel roll. We didn't touch the ground till the truck landed on a barbwire fence right between the posts....it landed on all tires! we had stuff in the box of the truck that stayed in because we spun so fast, well besides one football that was about 100yrds out in the middle of the field. I came out with the worst of it, mostly glass cuts and bruises and one sore head, dislocated shoulder and sore ribs. All I thought when we got out was how lucky i was to be alive, I've had 2 friends die in a roll overs. We had to kick the doors open being that all power to them was ******! The truck still drove fine after well the frame was bent to crap!
But I think that is what happened in your wreak, tire blow outs at those speeds are deadly!
