So as posted in another not completely relevant thread I may be letting the Fire go for something more of the Honda sort. Possibly with a B18C of some type. Im trying to hunt me down a nice clean Civic 2 door manual. Im riding the fence. C5 or C1? The C5 has more power but will cost me out the ass from what im seeing. The C1 will cost me less out the ass. But both are about the same in difficulty of install. Im looking at maybe a small turbo eventually. But for the time being it would be N/A with a slight tune exhaust etc. What would any of you do? Also some links to resources on these motors or where I could find one on the cheap would be nice. Thanks all.
c5 tranny = 100x better. triple synchros from 1st to third, closed diff with an LSD........ 4.75 final gearing, so you drop it into any hatch and your basically in the mid 13's with some good driving... BUT the transmissions are inter changeable (not axles)
The GSR(c1) = cheaper... BUT the head is limited parts wise in comparison...........
I say just save the money, buy a b16a2, and drop a JRSC on it, and your laughing at both, and running faster times.

JRSC is what? Im acronym retarded.
I really want to stay N/A if all possible. I dont trust myself with any boost nor can I afford it anytime soon. The B18s put out more N/A power so idk.
I think he means Jackson Racing Super Charger. That would be fun.
03 Sunfire - Sold.
C1 and boost it. dont @!#$ with the C5 as its way more expensive. if you want it to be like a C5 just do a poor mans with the b16 head. with the money you save boost the @!#$ outta the C1 and have a nice day. k thx bai.
SO I put the B16 head on the B18?
Is the C5 the integra type R motor? If so that's basically bragging rights. I'd say go with the C1 and boost. Your aftermarket options on the C1 should be, eh, huge to say the least

But seriously dont spend all the money for the typeR motor. My buddy and I are doing a b18b1 build with vitara 8:1's and will have a larger T4 twin scroll turbo. Working on picking a manifold, maybe an equal length top mount header and 4" dp..All in either a rex or del sol. But may have a dc2 integra lined up.
or better yet, a b20 bottum end with a b16 head = yum. def helps on the low end torque wise.

yes. thats pretty much what the C5 has as well as other nonsense. just get the gsr block and the b16 head and ur set. a C1 alone would def be plenty with some boost but the C5 is a total waste of money and as stated just braggin rights like a penis waving contest... oh ive got an itr swap... sweet. my buddy has an eg hatch with an itr swap and im not too impressed. for the price he could have had a gsr swap with turbo and been much much faster. my cav hangs with his itr swap.

K20 would be ideal if you get your hands on one for cheap and have the motivation to do the swap. I've read of people pushing that thing to 500bhp on the stock block, which is pretty insane
hey slamminsunfire - I thought your sig looked familiar - are you ibdrinken on solsticeforum.com? Nice to see you have a Jbody too, lol. Small world. Hows the alky injection working for ya?

Stole the words right out of my mouth. I just saw a b20 block going mad cheap. Pick your self up that with a b16 head and get some adjustable cam gears, and type r cams. BAM you just spent less money on a better motor. You'll be pushing about the same if not more than a Type R motor and you're power curve will be WAAAYY better.
Do a mild port and polish, JUN valve and valve springs and you're revving to 11k smoking Type R swaps for the same amount of money.
Type R tranny is ok, but still short. Save your money grab a GSR tranny and get LSD. Best thing though is a GSR tranny, b16 first gear, LS 5th gear with LSD. Trust me you wont regret it =P

Why? So you can spend just as much if not more on the swap....have very little more HP not much more torque at all and mods for it are 2-3x more expensive. B18C1 all the way. However, if I had to do it over i'd build a B20 block. But I got a steal on mine thats why I went GSR.

The only issue I have with higher revving spoon and jun equipped motors is longevity. OTHER then that though !
. I still also lean towards the Type R tranny for simplicity, triple synchros threw the first few gears really prevents nasty explosion, since most B series trannies are completely incompetent. "spits on his b18a tranny"

Type R tranny is waaayyy to short for boost. Which is why I don't use it. I'll stick with my b18A tranny
my roommate has a 99 swaped k20 and that thing hauls. I am not sure what k20 it is but the kid owned a rsx type s and it got wrecked so he swapped the k20 into a civic coupe. its pretty quick though quite a swap powerwise. personally I think it screams for boost but if your going to stay NA then k20 would be the way to go.
Thanx Charles

PIC sells a new final drive which can bring the type R down to 4.3ish. simple 400 dollar mod.
