Honda Recalls

Since some folks are having a "Fit" over the sheer audacity that something other than the Honda Fit car fire (from electrical malfunction) recall even be referenced in that thread, I decided we'd benefit from a thread devoted strictly to all the other recalls on Honda vehicles.

Recent Honda Recalls

Now guys and gals, let's play fair: by your own standards, you may not mention any other Japanese automakers in this thread, and certainly no Domestic ones. You'd not want to be branded as hypocrites!

OK. Let's start with the 2008 Ridgeline. Two recalls shown, affecting a total of 2500 vehicles.

These are interesting recalls: both can result in severe injury, one even possibly causing the amputation of fingers!

Well Rod, I have to disagree with you there. There was a time when they were better, but it's been perpetuated and exaggerated beyond all reason. In any case, it's a time long past, and for proof that even the Japcar fans know this, one need look no further than some of the screaming in pain they've been doing here today.

I feel for ya, Japfan guys. It sucks to get knocked off the pedestal. Especially when you have so far to fall...

Hmm. Seems the Fit has some other recall issues. I don't know, am I allowed to discuss Fit in this thread? Can I get a Japfan clarification on this?

This one can cause severe passenger injury in the case of a crash. Not cool.

I've owned a long list of GM vehicles since I've been driving - 81 citation, 87 z24, 95 grand am, 02 cavalier, 04 cavalier, 06 solstice, 08 solstice.

up until the 02 cav they were ABSOLUTE pieces of trash, especially compared to the foreign competition. The third gen cav is no work of art, but it's cheap and reliable, at least my 200k + miles of experience with them has been. However the bad rep from the 70s-80s carries on. The solstice is an amazing car that I never though would come out of GM, especially the LNF equipped ones. They are truly a performance and quality value. However they still come with the same label/perception.

What is the point of my babbling? Am I a domestic fanatic? NO! - after the grand am let me down, I wanted a honda so bad i could taste it, but the cavalier was just a better value and what other people thought did not matter.

SO, when the serious foreign recalls are brought out for the media and public to see, true domestic fanatics are going to jump on the chance to revel.

Not to defend nor deny, but i think what Bill is doing is taking those years of abuse in the form of perception and brand labeling and sending it back in one big mean punch.

I'd like to point out that my initial posts about all of this were playful at best. Frankly, had I any idea those posts could have incited such severe reactions, I'd not have made them. I truly didn't know that I would reveal such an undercurrent of Japlove here. I'm still surprised, but that doesn't mean I am going to take sh!t off anyone.

Where it all went painfully wrong for the Japfans is how I was treated for those early playful posts. Not being one to readily bow to pressure, I fired right back. That doesn't make me a moron or any of the other names I've been called in this comical exchange. It makes me strong and unwilling to be pushed around.

I am more than willing to continue it as long as the Japfans care to. Should they relent, so will I. Easy, simple, logical.

And thanks for showing me who you are, Japfans. Damned useful information

*attacking regulars in a group: Check.
*making himself the saviour of the group: Double check!

As for the rest...well, I don't make accusations I can't back up. I'd say this is enough.

Back to the Honda recalls that so outrage him. Check!

Heh. Double standards are fun to bust wide open.

I just have to ask again...seriously...when did this website become a place where folks can take shots at me, but when I shoot back, it's all "immature, childish, moronic" and all these other silly terms? Really?
