Genesis 2.0T
Monday, March 08, 2010 1:41 PM
Ok so im looking at buying a new car, but i want to step away from the FWD and get into RWD's. i've looked into the 350z and the 370z and decided they weren't for me, to many prissy boys running around in them around here and i don't like the fronts

so im leaning towards the genesis, i've selected the 2.0T and was wondering if anyone else has one or is looking into one, if so im wondering about the turbo's and internals of the engines, i keep asking the dealer and no one there seems to know squat except the price and overall hp...

so good buy or waste of time, the 2.0T is stock 210 and i want to break 350 with out going f'in crazy

I almost bought a 2.0T with the white exterior and black/red interior and track package (Brembos and HID's, mmmm).

They're nice cars, but you can definitely tell its a little wimpy at the stock hp. There are a few small upgrades that'll bump up the hp some, but if you want big big power then you're going to have to do big mods (but you probably already knew that). Remember that motor is similar to the worldwide motor used with the Mitsu Evo. I definitely was ready to buy one but ended up getting something else.

how can you say you dont like the front of a 370z but you like the front of a genesis? Its the worst part on the Genesis, the front grill is terrible

To john(whoever that dumbass that can't read the OP is), Matt, and Redbadged. Exterior appearance on a vehicle is kind of PERSONAL TASTE... YOU GUYS think the 350 and 370 look better.... He doesn't. Get over it.

The guy pointed out reasons that he DOESN'T want that car, and wanted advice on the Genesis coupe. Instead you come in and basically try to say he is wrong for differing in opinion with you? WOW.......

i <3 teh org

in the video did they really expect a stock genesis to keep up with cars putting out over 300hp?

maybe if the car was on a treadmill it would of gone faster

to hit 350 you'll probly need to get a little crazy, full TBE, intake, fmic upgrade, tune, and possibly a manifold/new turbo... Most factory cars now that are turbo are using turbos that are putting out almost their peak power. So pushing them harder isn't the best idea, but you can.

I have an Evo X. It has a similar 4b11t engine, however it isn't the same. If it is anything like the X... 50-60HP can be gained from just a tune alone... Add a few bolt-ons and you're up 100hp from stock... My Evo X sits at 311 WHP on a dyno that has stock X's at 235... My only performance mods are full TBE, intake, UICP, and a tune...

385-390 HP is attainable on the stock turbo on an X... but it requires E85. Most stock turbo X's can only see around 350-360 on 93.

Sorry I can't bring any insight as a Genesis owner, but I can attest that the aluminum engine block is solid.

I recommend driving both a 370 and Genesis back to back... I really think if you look at their interiors you may change your opinion. Not to mention the 370 is quicker...

Good luck on your quest

The stock 2.0t engines in the Genesis arent really reliable above 300hp, they tend to start letting go around that area.

I hope you're joking?

Why would hyundai do that? build a boosted motor when full well knowing people will modify it, and only make it strong enough for 300? Hell, if it wasnt for rwd youre better off buying a J lol

Shiz - least I was in the neighborhood, I didn't think about power from a tune alon could be 50-60 hp, but thanks for clarifying

From what I've read, there has only been one person to push the stock motor to around 350hp without anthing bad happening. I think the major downfall of the motor is the open deck design, makes it dangerous to run high boost. The 4B11T in the Evo X is a semi closed deck design. That and the rods and pistons are a weak spot. There is however a guy going for 400rwhp on the stock block, but he just got started, so only time will tell.

I recently say in a Genesis and it felt nice inside.

I would go 350z before the 370z, they aren't that much faster. My friends 350z ran 13.4 bone stock, and put 265whp bone stock. Fun car to drive!

People like you are pathetic man. Seriously they started somewhere no so good, but as of late they are putting a LOT of effort into making kick ass cars. And their prices are still better than the big ego Jap cars that are actually falling off more in quality and just leaning on their reputation to sell their cars.
