Im looking on pennswoods and Craigslist for a TRAIL 4X4 project.
I don't really care if it is street legal what-so-ever. I pretty much just want something to take into the woods and beat. I MAY make it road legal depending on it's needs.
What do you guys think i should look for? I was thinking something like 300 bucks with or without title and not really caring what it looks like.
Right now i would REALLY like to get a Geo Tracker... but i have also been looking for Suzuki Samurais and other stuff like that.
I owned an early 90's Geo Tracker a few years ago. I had it just to beat the hell out of it on my parents land. Never had fun like that, ever.
Geo tracker + front winch = awesome fun.
I second the tracker. 3 inch lift plus 31's will make it more fun.
Need I say more
On the other hand I do realllllllly like the trackers as well. Plus a tracker on 31s looks like a wrangler on 40s lol.
Thats funny you say that about the Tracker on 31s looking like a wrangler on 40s... cause it's kinda true. Trackers look awesome with fat tires. And i actually have a come along with chains and heavy rope. This will probably be a low budget Pennswoods/Craigslist/Ebay project.
I'm glad i'm not the only person that tought a tracker would be an awesome beater project.
If I did not have kids I would have bought one
Yeaaahh... and i looove XJs but they are a little more expensive even in rough shape. And i want a decent truck at income tax sooo i dont really want to fork out the money on an XJ.
I have been looking and even 86 Sammy and trackers are coming in around $2,000.
Yeah it depends. On pennswoods i see trackers from 300-500... but they get snatched up quickly.

That's because those little @!#$s are awesome!
Have you checked out the Suzuki Sidekick?
Trackers rock on 31's!!! I roll my Rodeo around on 32x11.50 super swampers with a 2inch lift in rear and 3inch lift up front.
Sammi's are nice too though.
$2,200 in Jersey and all the work is done

I could find a tracker here for a grand or so....same with an XJ.
An early 90s ford ranger is awesome to.

Plus you could never buy and build a similar one for $2,200

Yeah i would consider an early 90s late 80s sanoma, ranger, s10, camanche, dakota, or anything else of the sort.
And that sammy is nice and is worth it im sure, but i do not have that kind of money. haha.
To blow on a off road only truck**** oops
Don't get an s10 or ranger unless its sasd. The ranger has a twin traction beam front suspension. Which responds very well to lifting.
trackers, sidekicks, and samurais are @!#$ awesome. that's what i originally wanted to buy until i found my cj. i just couldn't seem to find a decent deal on one when i was actively searching though.
xj's are really cool too. very capable vehicles even in stock form. you can usually find good deals on those any day of the week. lots of aftermarket support.
but of course, i would have to tell you to pick up a wrangler or cj lol
Check out my build thread!
^^^ Very nice man... seems to be in good shape. I just want something i can throw some cheap buckets, 5 point harness, mild life, cheap used 31s and go do a hill climb and if it flips, FACK it. lmfao.
Well i really wouldnt want to flip... but just saying... haha. Whooo knows though? I always end up trying to make things look pretty... haha... we will just have to see.
Cj= amazing. If i could find one for under a grand i would def spend a few hundo extra on it. haha... but the chances are slim.
