Mike's new project truck

Alright..Pics suck. Might take better ones today. Copy and paste from the truck forum I'm on. (Just incase you are wondering, Matt is my brother, has a matching pickup and is on the forum too)

The pics I took last night sucked because of the dark, crappy flash. And it was like 20 degrees. I wasn't messing around out there long. Thanks for the heads up on that welder Matt, Picked it up this morning and was out in the garage messing with it. Good penetration for how small it is. Perfect for body panels and exhaust work

^^This one is really dark, IDK why because we had the truck's headlights shining on it, and flash..But you can kinda see the back bumper. That is the worst on the truck. Getting tossed for a roll pan anyway.

^^Smoothie, with the ugly front. Logoless GMC time.

^^The worst of the truck body-wise

^^Interior, Needs cleaning. But should shine up nice.

^^The cheap welder.

Time to rip into it. And invest in bed liner and por-15

Overall, Truck is in great shape. No rot on the fenders, bed or anything. Just the cab corners and maybe the rockers. Rockers might be salvageable by themselves..

Sig shows plans exterior wise...Different wheels though. I'm thinking 454SS wheels on a 4/6 drop, GMC logoless grille, Smoothie front bumper (Already have), Roll pan, Shaved tailgate/moldings/antenna, FG tonneau cover, tint.. Keeping the 5 speed but building a 350 to drop in. Tons of stuff. This will take a little while to fully complete, but I'm cool with that. Still drive the crapolier daily so no worries on time frame

What engine? The NVG3500 will take a beating.

4.3 right now. Long story short, The motor was replaced by a few hacks, And it's fugged I think. It won't turn over yet (May be the starter though), injectors weren't even plugged in, no coolant, And apparently they drove it like this. I say there is no way in hell it moved under it's own power like that, But he maintains that it was driven over there after the motor replacement and parked as is. I'll get some pics of the bay up. It is SUPER hack. Glad I work with the guy I bought it from and the guy that replaced the motor. The guy that changed it is getting his balls kicked in on monday.

Guy bought it for 1k, dumped about 2k into it, and sold it to me for $500. I will make it run.

Meh. You will get better pics when I feel like it. Hell, I might not even look at it again till spring time. No hurry for me.

In other news.......My new parts pile has begun officially yesterday. Nothing goes on till I get the truck torn down, por-15 the entire frame, underbody, axles, ect... Line-x the bed, Paint the tonneau and possibly the whole truck. Once the body is completely ready, It will wait until all my parts are in order. Then it all goes down at once.

Convert to an electric cooling fan. Its amazing how much room is freed up in front of the 4.3.

I have been thinking about running e-fans..Pretty sure I will just to take more load off the engine. I will still have some room even after the 350 swap.

I wouldnt mind a 350 swap. Probably actually pick up some mileage. Its not in the budget right now though.

Check your coolant overflow for any stop leak sediment. I just got done chasing down radiator cap leak issues due to a plugged hose and overflow jug.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the hacks that replaced this motor pumped all sorts of "Fix-it-fluids" into it too. The stock radiator is getting pulled for a 4-core. Might use a stock SS454 radiator if it's cheaper than a full aluminum. And unless I get a good deal on a full TBI 350 swap, then it's going to be carbed. I'm going through the entire truck haha. If the guy comes through, I should have my small block by next month.

Well, Here are some better pics.

There are 2 large dents in the truck, Nothing that cant be fixed. One in the front passenger fender, and the other on the drivers side bed

Dent in the front. Hood is strapped on because it is not bolted on at the moment. Cant wait to ditch this horrid grille for the GMC one.

Dent in the bed.

Rotted back bumper. Getting tossed for a roll pan.

The worst of the truck. Should have all the patch panels in sometime next week.

All in all, It's very clean for a $500 Michigan truck.
