Help me get this - VE tuning.

I'm trying to VE tune using the FAQ. What do I want my commanded afr to be? 14.7? Right now, mine is 14.0, and the car is running really rich.

When in closed loop, does the ecm automatically shoot for a 14.7:1 afr until the PE is reached and it then aims for whatever the commanded afr is?

How can I tune my fuel to be a stoich mixture in PE in some cells, but rich at the right moments? I don't get it.

Yes under power enrichment commanded afr will switch to values in Base AFR vs. ECT. If you want it to be 14.7 then you need to change the values in that table and set the RPM Multiplier to 1 where desired. 14.7 is pretty damn lean even for N/A. I suggest you do a lot more reading, and check out the HPT forums to answer other questions before you start messing with fueling.

If there's a certain RPM vs TPS cell that you want stoich, wouldn't it be best to leave that area out of PE mode? You can adjust the PE delay RPM, and then set the TPS threshold so that you only need to tune the cells where you need more fuel.

If your actual AFR is very different from your commanded AFR, serveral things could be off. First and foremost, make sure the injector constant is correct. Then tune the VE tables until you have an acceptable AFR error. I've only done my first generation of high rpm VE tuning, and I can see it's going to take several generations to get it right.
