Why are these different?
Tuesday, May 05, 2009 8:22 PM
I was comparing tunes between an automatic Cavalier (left), and an manual Cavalier (right). Have the tunes always been different like this?

Each has tables the other doesn't, and on one, the idle ve map values are switched around? Why is this?

My 03 has the Alchy tables. I think some of the later year calibrations don't have the Alchy tables because that option was only available on 02. So it makes sense that some of the 03s will have the Alchy tables.

It my also be HPT was just lazy and did not remove junk tables from all the calibrations. That has been the case with some other tables in the past which are no longer there because they removed them with subsequent updates.

Those aren't stock files so no way of telling if the map values are stock, kind of a mute point.

I know the tables aren't stock, I was referring more to the axes and the actual existence of the alchy tables.

Not unless you have an 02 with the Flex Fuel option.

hmm, think race gas would trigger those tables?

No because there is probably a sensor on the Flex Fuel cars that enables them. Maybe someone with an 02 can confirm this.

My 02 has the HO alcy tables and mine is not flex fuel as far as I know of. Iirc the tables are empty I'll have to check when I get home.

There would be a sensor on the fuel line if it has the flex fuel option. All it does is tell the PCM how much alky is in the fuel.
