99 2.2 ln2 tuning ???'s
Wednesday, September 30, 2009 1:13 PM
Does anybody know of a cheap, rather basic flash device for a 99 2.2 cavalier? I basically just want to be able to adjust shift points, rev limiters, top speed limiter, and just the basics. I don't need a super computer, as my car is staying n/a, but it does have all new high-performance internals less the crankshaft.

Hope is not a plan. Change is not a destination.

There are a LOT of "cheap" computer mods, but none of the cheap ones will do what your asking.

You would need someone with HPT to do what youre asking.

Only other alternative is a piggyback or standalone.

What is done to the car that you need it tuned?

Yeah I figured I would need an HP tuner. The 2.2 has a stage 2 cam, roller rockers, stainless valvetrain, eagle h-beam rods, wiseco 10:1 pistons, 2.5" exhaust, msd dis2 ignition, 10.2mm wires, p&p head, cold air intake, billet pulleys, ported intake and throttle body, high flow injectors, pretty much everything less a knife-edged crank and turbo. I just wanna do the easiest thing possible, and I was hoping there was a way that I could get it tuned when I do an initial dyno run, and get the limiters removed then too

What the hell are "hi flow injectors" and "stage 2 cam"? Specs would be nice. Also, fill out your mods list/profile. If it is what you say it is, sounds like a nice build. I would throw spray at it. I would like to see some pics. Where are you located?

I'm in the minneapolis, minnesota area, and I don't remember the exact specs of the cam, but it was purchased from jbodyperformance.com, its their stage 2 cam. And the high flow injectors are just venom ported cavalier injectors, I got a really good deal on them. And I was thinking about doing either a 55 shot, or doing a full cry02 system, I just don't know if cry02 is actually something I should trust. But I do plan on posting pics of everything after I finish engine swaps and finish some body work. I still have the stock engine in the car lol

I've always heard good stuff about JBodyPerformance. The company is still in business, and it was basically the only company I could find that did a good cam for the ln2. Otherwise I pretty much found a flatlander cam which I really didn't want to go with, as my dad was really screwed on a flatlander crank for one of his small block chevy engines. I really didn't think I would need any more than the ported stock injectors for my system anyways, as I'm not running any type of radical boost, just 10:1 pistons. The stock fuel output should be large enough to run that much.

Then where would you suggest I go for any parts in the future?
