Boost - Needed Gauges and Tuning Stuff

Sometime soon I plan on turbocharging my Ecotec. Although I have a decent understanding of turbos i still have a few blurry areas.

1. Besides boost , what gauges are considered mandatory. I read that an EGT gauge is a must for boost ... Anything else?

2. Tuning - I know that you can't slap a turbo kit on you car and expect everything to run perfect and be getting the most horsepower out of your setup. For those of you who have turbo cavi/ecotecs how do you tune your car? Or do you just take it someplace and have then tune if for you. Only thing i can think of is an Air/Fuel gauge but i heard those are useless unless u have a wideban O2.

Wideband
EGT
Oil Pressure
Oil Temp

You don't NEED any gauges, not even boost really, its not like the system won't run without them, the gauges are information purposes only. Everybody likes to see what PSI they are at. EGT and Widebad will help with tuning. How you tune your car depends on what you use for fuel and ignition setups.

Yeah, a wideband is for air/fuel ratio. A standard stoichometer, or air-fuel gauge, won't work well for boost aplications since it reads the air/fuel ration over from a narrow band.. The wideband works better since it reads the air/fuel ratio over a much wider band, and thats why its called a wideband.

I'd get a decent tach, the stock tach has alot of lag.

TURBO KIT...$4,000
RUNNING 20 PSI...ANOTHER $2,000
SMOKING THE TIRES ON A 3RD GEAR ROLL...PRICELESS
