My opinion on the next best way would be megasquirt.
No offence meant by this but if you dont know that there are other ways to tuning, megasquirt is probably far beyond your capabilities at the moment. The good thing for you is that there is plenty of information floating around the internet and a couple of excelent books that you can find about electronic engine management that will get you up to speed. Search amazon for engine management and there is a book called "How to Tune and Modify Engine Management Systems" that is beyond excelent. It would be about 21 bucks with shipping to give you more information than this web site could not match in several years of reading.
There is also a new one out that I have not read yet, but will be ordering soon. Its called "Engine Management: Advanced tuning".
