When I put my BC2 on a month or so ago, I realized it was just way too low for my taste. I decided to trim the bottom down and reglass it to get a little more clearance, and so it will line up better with my Andy's sides.
I started it yesterday, and here are some pics. I just measured everything for the clearance I needed, then cut the necessary amount off. Then I riveted the peice I cut off to the inside so I will have something to glass to. It's not a hard job, as long as you have the right tools and some know-how.
Initial cut....
Cut and riveted back underneath....
Riveted the cut piece back underneath so I would have something to glass to...
This is a piece of a shelf brace that I cut and used to splice the edges together...
This is where I used the above bracket and spliced the two pieces together...
The bracket as seen from underneath (kind of blurry)...
Sanding the edges to rough in the final shape...
Same on the other side...
Other side...
Other side again...
More sanding to get a rough shape...
And even more sanding...
Fixing a crack from the exhaust being too tight against it...
That's it for now. I gave up for the day.
I really like that rear alot more once its trimmed up. You did a real good job on that.
^^^Thanks man.
I was noticing that after the trim, it basically looks the same, just not as low. Once it's glassed and primered/painted I don't think the untrained eye will ever know it was done.
BACK FROM THE DEAD!!!!
Finally got a nice day here when I didn't have anything to do all day, so I took my BC2 outside, along with someone elses BC2 rear that I'm "fixing". I put the two side by side so you can see how much came off of mine. (mine is the black one)
Let me know what you think!!!
As soon as I finish sanding the other one, I'm gonna sand mine down, and glass them both at the same time, so hopefully I can get them done soon and we can get them painted and back on our cars.
You know who you are........
i love the bc2 kit, looks hot
