dirt embedded in paint?
Thursday, May 05, 2005 2:03 PM
i dunno wtf is going on. i polished my car, last week, and since then its rained and all that kinda stuff. so the car was a mess. i went to the car wash...and the dirt just would not come off.....like i could wipe it off with my finger, but it would not wash off.

did i do something wrong when i polished it? what should i do?
I literally windexed and wiped down the bad area's and and washed my car 5 times, it looks great now...but is this gonna happen again?

Get a clay bar. Works wonders.

^^^ yeah i had that in mind. I think i'm going to get a polish stripper, and then just restart the whole finish on my car.

Maybe do the clay bar things, and give it a good wax job.

I know this sounds like it wouldnt work, but heres what i do to detail cars, and no it will not hurt your clear coat.

1. Wash car with soap, water, towels, etc. (basic wash)
2. Dry car off
3. Get a spray bottle full of gas and spray it on and then wipe it off with a rag. Do small areas like you would if you were waxing.
4. Spray car off again
5. Clay stick it
6. I ussually high speed buff it, if it hasn't been done before.
7. If it wasn't buffed, then just apply wax.

The paint shines so much after that, especially if its buffed. I will post pictures later of my car when i did all of that, when i first got it.

You only need to high speed buff it once, then every other time, a good coat of wax will give it that look again.

^^ sounds nice but also sounds extremely enviromentally unfriendly. There's a reason gas pumps have vapor controls.

^^^^^ lol.... global warming or really clean car... what to do?

heres some picture of my car when it still had paint, i cleaned it once they way i mentioned above, and then just gave it a basic wash and wax every so often.

I kind of wish my car still looked like that , i dont think one part of my car hasn't been modified now.

Wash the car in laundry detergent. (Tide no bleach, just regular). Why? Because this is the softest soap you can ever use on a cars paint.
Dry the car.
Use Mother's California Clay bar system
Go to the paint supply store nearby, pick up the 3m Imperial Hand Glaze part # 05531-05990 then apply to your car on a cool service, lightly apply it, I won't lie its tough to get off so do it in small portions, or a panel at a time.
Wax with either Meguiars Gold Class or Meguiars NXT car wax (paste) liquid and spray on waxes are crap if you ask me.
I promise your car will sparkle like you wouldn't believe if the paint has been taken care of. If not a buff job or new paint job may be in order for you.
This works very well with powdwercoated rims as well.

autobrite buffing compound. But you should be able to get the same shine with some hand polish, it will just take a little longer, and you will have to do it more often.

I wish i had paint still, i wanna finish my car so bad, just so it will be shiny again.
