blue turn signals
Friday, May 13, 2005 7:32 AM
Ok, I got an 03 cavy and i just finished taking the orange reflectors out of the head lights, put the head lights back together. Now for my next step i was wondering what i would do to make my new white turning signals into blue signals...

I've looked all over for blue bulbs but can't find any...

Any suggestions?

I can tell you this much using blue light or turn signal in most states is an easy way to get a ticket. White light is fine.

flashing blue bulbs is a good way to get a cop to think you're trying to impersonate one... which is a nice hefty fine. you can get hyper white bulbs that look blue until they light up, and they become really white. you can get those at wal-mart, and maybe some other places that sell car light bulbs.

If you get xenon corners, they'll be a little more yellow than xenon headlight bulbs, which will generally keep you out of trouble, and they still go good with the all white (or blue) scheme.

oh yea it is. just stick with yellow, amber, or white for the front of the car. and red, amber, and yellow for the rear. you may not use green anywhere on the car. you can also use purple anywhere...but it cant be too red, nor can it be too blue. and its up to the officers judgement. good luck.

I would deffinetly go with amber if I were you. If your worried about a bulb that looks orange during the day, there is one solution. Sylvania silverstar make a bulb that blinks amber, but when not activated they look blue, because of the tint they have on the end. I just got them, they look and work great.

I have APC Icy Hot Super White bulbs in my front bumper signals and I have yet to have any trouble with the cops because of them. They look very blue when they're not lit up. When they are lit up they are white with a nice blue tint. It's about $6.00 for the pair at Auto Zone.

thanks for all the comments/suggestions guys! I appreciate the input.

another question;

there is a side bulb that lights up the side orange reflector piece... what if i went with your guys general idea of a blue tinted bulb that flashes white or amber.... and then that little side bulb blink as blue?

is it possible? how would i do it? an L.E.D? if an L.E.D... ( I would have no idea how to do it) so please explain how i would do it..

thanks all!

if the light output of the blue bulb is (white or amber) and i sits behind an (amber) lens, then it will look (amber) when on. if the blue bulb has a light output (blue) and it sits behind an (amber) lens, then the light will look (green). good luck.

if it's a 194 bulb, you can get those in hyper white as well.

i live in Pennsylvania and i have clear bumper lights on my sunfire and blue bulbs for the turn signals in them and haven't got pulled over for em yet. I guess i never met up with a cop yet that is a prick

I suggest just getting chrome amber bulbs, no legal issues there and they just look better in my opinion. The artificial blue bulbs will always look greenish white (yellow light through a blue filter = green).

Here's a link to an auction if you want to get them.
