goign to a small local car show satruday and my engine bay is still filthy (sitting at thebbody shop for a week with no hood on it) what do you guys uses to clean it up?
I was thinking just stick a bad over the cone filter and the alturnator and spray it down with degresser then the hose???
Hose with high power sprayer
make sure u cover all the important electrical equipment, i usually use tinfoil to cover it just to be on the safe side
no high pressure sprayer, this is like an in the driveway kinda cleaning
what i used to do is cover like ur intake, alternator and important wires, grab some gunk-engine bright(citrus, the regualr stuff smells like ass) and spray that on let it sit for 5 min, then hose it off
the only thing you really need to cover is the filter on your intake. the rest will be fine if it gets wet. alternator, wires, battery... they'll be fine.
spray some cleaner/degreaser such as simple green on the cold engine and let it sit for a few minutes. you can scrub any parts if you need to, but otherwise, just hose it off. make sure you get all the simple green cleaned off. then (and this is optional), take some tire shine and spray it all over the engine to give it a nice shine. let that sit for quite a while before you start your engine again (unless you like putrid smells).
after that use Armor all whipes. They do wonders for cleaning every little tiny thing in the bay. I do that everytime for shows.

DONT USE Simple Green it will turn anything aluminum dull. Use an Orange Cleaner or another Claner of those lines. And just try not to directly spray the alt.
