I got my setup for around 100 bucks with a mini hvlp gravity feed and a larger one both with 1.4 mm tips which is perfect for spraying clear and basecoat. I got all my paint mixed at a local automotive paint store.
I'm partial to the devilbis gti millenium

the SATA RP is my favorite gun out. It is amazing, however very expensive. If you are looking into a good gun for a good price check out the SHARP T1 Titanium gun, its very nice.
Also you might want a cheap primer gun with a larger fluid tip size.
Welp there's already good gun suggestions (gravity feed is better)
As far as paint... depends on what you're doing...
DuPont for "stock" colors... and I personally prefer X-otic over HOK. Their color chips are better, and they have a TON of options/styles/etc.
They also have with their color books:
1. Larger chips than HOK
2. Transparent Candee overlays... which you can place over any of their bases to change the color to how YOU want it, and see what kind of effect you're going to get
3............. their stuff is just AMAZING!!!!
i picked up a gravity fed gun for under 100 when i ordered all of my paint from the local sherwin williams auto paint place. i sell their house paint and love how it turns out so i thought i'd give them a shot with auto paint. the store was very helpful also

Nikki- would this kind of setup be a good one? I really don't have much painting to do, just my interior pieces, maybe a few other small items.

If you're only doing interior and small items, that should be fine. They actually have "mini" paint guns which actually would be even better for small pieces... but if you ever need to do anything larger then I'd just go with that. I don't know the details on the guns (didn't see any listed lol)... but gravity feed is better than syphon... and I think it would be good to start out with.
If later on down the road you just start painting everything... and get good at it... then go with a better gun. But for starters and what you need to do, that setup should be fine.
If you have any further questions, feel free to email or IM me (I'm on yahoo more than aim)
sata or devil bliss are my weapons of choice. Make sure it is gravity feed HVLP. This way your paint will last longer, you will be able to spary more peices with less paint. Any non HVLP gun will waste paint to overspray.
