some people have gutted their cat to allow unused gas to go through, other people hook up propane or other fuel in a seperate tank to flow directly into the exhaust before the spark plug.

I've done it, propane jet. but if you want to do it right, just putting a spark plug in your tail pipe and gutting your cats isn't a good way. best to have a setup that provides multiple sparks in a rapid series when you hit the button.

The way autolock kits work (and most retail modles) is like this

Theres a spark plug in your tail pipe wired to a nearby coil. The kit comes with a relay/switch box (don't know how it wires up will come with directions). You rev the engine and when you let of the gas, you hold the button in while the RPM's drop. The switch temeraraly cuts juice to your ignition system (not your fuel), and supplies current to the coil wired to the spark plug in your tail pipe. When the raw fuel flying through your exaust hits that spark plug....boooooom, fire comes out. Not leagal, will ruin your cat, and fuel injection is a little more complicated, but thats basically how it works.

I wan't one.

ahh that makes sense... but dont want the raw fuel flowin through the exhaust.. nor do i want the system running lean like that..
thanks though guys

you mean running rich like that?

for the ppl running propane into their exhaust, or other fuel methods; how did you do it? does anyone have pics of the setup?

weld a bung in your tail pipe about 4-7"" from the tip, put a gas jet there to add unburned gas (propane) to your exhaust so you don't have to make your engine run rich, you don't need to turn it up very high to get a good flame. Add your igniter of choice per it's instructions (it has to be further down stream than the gas source)

does it run a solenoid to open up the propane.. or do you basically leave it running all the time?.. just like a little remote mounted bottle?.. that wouldnt be to bad i would guess...

we wired it so the signal the ignitor used to kill the engine spark would open the jet instead. engine keeps running normal and valve opens. it helps if you rev the engine when you do it to get the exhaust flowing out for a nice ball of gas.
