Hey guys. Ive read a few posts and some people say poppers on our (jbody) shaved cars arent needed cause it pushes the door out enough. Ive got an 01 cavi and i was just wondering. How hard is it to install the poppers and seleniod? any help would be appreciated. thanks guys.
I don't have them and it works fine. You don't need them.

i dont have any "door poppers", nor do i have any experience in "door poppers", but i just wanted to bring up other remarks and opinions of this subject. good luck on what you find. there are allot of people with experience on here that can/will help you out.

isnt the popper what pushes the door out? i would assume w/ no popper, it would just unlatch the rod and the door would just stay there. i dont have shave doors so i cant help you out but i would assume they are needed
all the popper does is help push the door out and adds to the "cool factor" that you have no door handles
can i haz bondo
you need door poppers. i am not sure if its possible even that they will pop.. unless ur on an angle without poppers. i got the spal kit and without the poppers the door isnt going ANYWHERE it just latches itself back on. I know some fords have poppers build in so u dont need them but nevere seen a functual/practical shaved doors without them on a j-body.

You don't need poppers. W/out them though u have to hold the door while u push down the button, so you can get the door open. W/out poppers the rod basically comes unlatched and that's it-- you still have to pull the door while popping it to get it open. I enjoy having poppers more than not having poppers, but you don't NEED them. Poppers are just more practical because the doors DO NOT push themselves open w/out them.
ONE good thing about not having poppers is your door doesn't come open if you accidentally push a button because you're not pulling on it. So, perhaps, in a way, it's safer to not have them? But maybe everyone isn't clumsy like I am and doesn't push the buttons on their remotes by accident ALL the time? lol

I've accidently pushed the button also. It's kinda dangerous if you in the supermarket or in your apartment complex (like I was a when it happened). It's made me think of taking the poppers out and just pull the door when I want to open it.

i don't have poppers either and everything works fine for me too
here is a site that was very helpful when i installed my solenoids.
click me
Lets get this straight for the people who dont know what theyre talking about
Solenoids pull on the latch and release it so the door opens.
Poppers are spring loaded rods that push the door out further once the latch is disengaged.
I went about a year without poppers, they arent needed but it helps, I got mine for next to nothing so thats why I got them.
I used the poppers and i liked them.....It was just alot easier cause i could pretty much have my hand about a foot away from the door. press the popper button catch the door and hop right in. Plus like someone was sayin its just kinda the cool effect.
I mean i am usually pretty lazy so when me and my g/f would go out....if i didn't feel like walkin to the other side of the car to open her door for her i could just press the button and have my cavy do it for it.
