Ok, I finally got around to trying out my theory on a second car... Nathan from BCJ.
I can't get the pics to load
But! Instead of doing the complicated library procedure (pull DRL relay, jumper a wire, live with the flashing light on cluster, or cover DRL light with black tape)...
all you do is....
CUT ONE WIRE!
Even easier than the 2000-05 DRL disable.. because you don't have to ground out that wire!
The wire is on the main harness to the instrument cluster. It's dark blue.. there's two though, so it's the thicker of the two... the other dark blue one is next to a light blue one (and is the turn signal wire) so you don't cut it.
Find the other dark blue wire in the cluster connector, and cut it.
Ta da, no more DRLs.
No flashing DRL light
No check engine light
No side effects.
(Don't ask "why would you want to turn off the DRLs?" the answer is "because we want to, ok?")
Discuss.

LENKO RULES!!!! that is all
simple minds talk about other people.
average minds talk about events.
great minds discuss ideas

Excellent I think I might now have a weekend project! Rock on Lenko
nice.. when i put my new cluster in ill do it.. i tried the tech 2.. i worked at the dealership too i couldnt find anything on how to do it.. and none of the workers helped me turn them off either.. can anyone tell me how to do it on the tech 2?.. if not ill just cut it thanx
there arent any bulbs you could just remove??

The DRL indicator on the dash is an LED. So to block it, you would either need to black electrical tape it, de-solder it, or "Lenko-Mod" your DRL's.
lenko is my hero
now i just need to figure out how to have the parking be the DRLs
B_series_ . wrote:there arent any bulbs you could just remove??
Nope... well.... lol you could. The DRLs use the stock headlight bulbs... so... take those out, and you have no lights at all
So... has anyone done it yet? I want confirmation from others that it does work and I didn't just have two fluke cars in a row.

Do your hi beams still work? If they do I may try it.

could you please provide pics.....
Look Im Premium Now Give Me More Post....
ok maybe i am the stupid one here but can someone tell me why or what the accomplishment in doing this is ??? my light in the cluster doesn't blink it stays on constant so i'm lost i guess on the importance of this is??? and don't flame i'm just curious if there is a reason other then not wanting your DRL's anymore
well, when it comes to me and my customers, the drl light will blink and the service engine light will stay on if you do a projector headlight conversion. others just dont like the look of the lights on while they drive.
