Lambo doors ?good or bad?
Tuesday, December 06, 2005 10:51 AM
I was thinking about putting lambo doors on my 97 cavy but i was told that the vehicle was not bilt for it. I was told that it will look good but after awhile the door will beging to sag and the door won't fit right. Is this true or just someone who doesn't know what they are talking about. Any of you guys know from experence. What they longest someone has had the doors on their car? Also this is goin to be my daily driver so the door will be opened alot.

I don't see why they would sag any more then stock hinges, unless they aren't installed correctly.

The shocks might go out every few years though.

After getting them adjusted correctly you will love them.

Fill out your profile first.

And do you live in very cold areas?

i live in a cold area in the winters does that affect the doors???

1998 Sunfire, 2.2L auto

Colder temps = lower pressure in the shocks = harder to keep the doors vertical

At least that's what I've heard...

just stay away from the $300-$400 ones on ebay, i have seen they and they where suspended by pcv cause the shocks went.

if i where gonna do it i'd pay the extra $$$ and go with vertical doors or a repretable company like that. unless you like pvc

just my 2 pennies...

where is the cheapest place to get them from a good company? How much? and i would like the the kind that just bolt right up that way i don't have to worry about welding. Also do the kits come with everything (like extra wire for the electrical crap.

Only thing I can tell you with the Lambo kits... (I had an MMS kit).

They're cool.. but hell if you have sideskirts that come up the fenders or quarter panels (beyond the bottom of the door). They'll rub. No matter how careful you are, there isn't enough clearance. The door opens outwards (instead of inside the fender) and will hit it.

Sunfire stock skirts are bad... so were my Toyota skirts. Did all sorts of damage to them.

ok here is opinion , i have em, and yeah i had the ebay kit worked ok, till a shock snapped, then i upgraded the shocks, get em from vertical doors, so i kept the hinges, now the doors work great. and rollin a fender is cake, if its fiberglass its cut and sand, it its metal u unscrew a piece outa there and push in some metal taps, but be careful... there right about side skrts and the doors, they can hit, and advice done let people mess with ur doors who dont know what they are doin, uh if u go on a date always get the door for the girl, and take it to a shop, you pull the car in, cuz i left mine at a shop and had a buddy call me and say they were hittin switches in there garage with my car with the doors open, i was pissed, showed up they finished work and i refused to pay,

^^^ i would be pissed to, hit my switches and stuff..
I tell them right out that the doors are broken and not to open them as if they are normal , ive even been as crazy as to show the person working on the car how to open them properly...
so this way there is no excuses, and
that only if i have to leave the car...

took my car to the dealy i put Black tape on the door handle of the passenger side.
and onb the inside i put making tape across the interior handle as well..

but i never refused payment of the service unless my car was damaged while on the property.
and when i drop it off i do a walk around with the person.. before i leave the car, then another just before a pick up.

later
