HID's are here, have a quick install question
Friday, February 10, 2006 5:16 PM
i ended u pgoing with the hid kit from the gp on here, they arrived a little more than a week after being ordered. i plan on putting them in this weekend and the installation loks pretty simple. i went through the manual a couple times and im sure i missed it. there are 2 wires that go into a plug, one is black and the other white, and this plug goes to the factory headlight plug. now these wires arent labelled and im not sure which goes where or if it even matters, cant find it in the manual, maybe someone can help me out, thanks. btw its the plug and play McCulloch kit. thanks

i used a voltage meter one goes to the ground, and one goes to the low beam. i cut the plug off and hard wired mine in. I bought the relays but never installed them. make sure you dissconnect your drls before install. I have pics of when we installed mine and which wire to cut if you need that info. if not theres plenty of guides on here if you search. Hope that helps some. anymore questions just ask.

is that clip able to plug in either way? like can you flip it over and still plug it in? if there is a certain way it has to go in, match it to the factory harness to see where the power and where the ground meet at the connection

that may sound confusing, i kinda confused myself with it, lol

if you need more detail as to what im talking about, PM me

i tested the wires and the problem is that both wires show power when the lights are off and one goes to a ground when youturn them on. i dont know how much of a negative effect this will have on the lights, ill call the place tomorrow and if theyre not open ill call back on monday about it and see what they say. i mean its supposed to be a plug and play kit so i shouldnt have to screw around with anything right?

oh yeah, i can plug the wires into either end of the conector that was supplied to me, i might just hook up the black to the wire that grounds out and the white to the one thatholds poewr, its supposed to be plug and play, so ill plug and see if it burns out

i didnt have a problem figuring out which went were on mine. just cut the headlights on and use a voltmeter and figure out which is the pos and which is the ground. just make sure you are testing for low beam and not high beam.

see thats what i did, but when off both lights show power, which is what worried me. @!#$ em they get plugged in today, its plug and play after all and not make your own harness with relays and @!#$ kit right, thanks

I bought a different kit Judge, but have a similar question:

I assume the blade connectors stick in the stock bulb connectors, but shouldn't they have been in a female connector??

Don't buy from MANTAPART!!

That looked to crappy of a connection to me on mine, so i cut the connector off after i had found what wires i was working with, and then just put both wires into the connector and crimped em both, works fine, no problems, going on 4 months now with them. Bought the relays but never used them, basically just cant have lights on without the car on.

It's showing power because our cars use a reverse polarity headlight switch. So your headlights are constantly getting 12v when you ground it on come the lights. Hope this helps.
