Okay so yesterday we slapped on some eyelids on the sunfire, and then began thinking of the next thing we could do with the hood.
we thought of...
1.cutting the hood and pushing it down, welding in some walls
a. giving it the VIS hood look with the lip above it
b. just leaving it flat with the cuts.
2. cutting the hood and pulling it up
a. and making it a functional hood or..
b. making it just for looks
then we didnt know if we wanted to make the dual cuts, or one big cut.
so i have been torn as to what to do, if you guys have any new ideas or suggestions please post them for me to consider
thanks in advance

cut the hood and raise the cut piece(s) up and weld some walls to the sides to make a hood scoop(s)

sorry i didnt really explain what we're cutting the hood for, this is for the outside of the hood, i wanted to make either some hood scoops or some dips in the hood. sorry for the confusion

chances are your not going to do it, so stop fantasizing about it.
honestly you are better off buying the vis invader hood. i have seen people do that and it never looks right, it looks cheap and im sure you are gonna have to spend about 400 at a shop to get it nice and smooth so why not save 200 more to get it in carbon fiber?
just my two cents though.
well maybe somone wants to try to do their own @!#$ for once. god forbid somone do somthing different. and if he knows what hes doing he can do all the body work. people make me so frustrated around here. any time somone trys to do somthing to learn on there is always some @!#$ to smack them back down.
Hrothgar:
go ahead dude, personally i dont think you will get any dips to look right due to lack of clearence depending on how low you want to go. but me and a freind are looking to do this to his stock hood on his 03+ hood. either mold in a scoop, or make our own. more power to you. just before you start cutting on yours, make sure you have somthing in line to pickup just incase you do mess up. so thats not your only hood. kep me posted!

I hardly ever see you say anything nice.

good luck with the custom work. It'll be hard, but it's possible. Look at some of the fetters' work. They did some things I didnt think were possible.
I'm the new cancer.
z24baller i wasnt trying to smack him down but at the top of the page one of the ways was exactly like the invader hood. he even said it. thats why i said it would be better to buy it. gosh who pissed in your cheerios!

because custom work is a billion times cooler and more respectable than buying something off a shelf and bolting it on.
my sig is in transition
I was going to try somthing similer to make a cowl induction hood for my car too but even tho I can cut and weld it costs money to paint and I'm broke as sh-t right now.
Yes it can be done I have a friend thats done this before and he was gonna help me.
Just kep in mind once you remove the webbibg from the under side the hood needs to be supported by something. Leave the webbing alone except where the scoop is at the point where the new steel is welded in this is where you attach the remaining webbing so it can keep some strength. Oh and the piecs that runs accross the back of the hood NEEDS to stay even if you raise the center.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.

i'm sponsored, it will be free for me. the guy that's going to be doing it knows his stuff and says we could get it done with a good days worth of work.

^^exactly
and to everybody else who stood up for my idea, thank you i appreciate the support. right now with this car we are going in with an anything is possible attitude, we're thinking up crazier @!#$ than this so who knows what else might happen.
if somebody could link me to some pictures of other's cars that have this custom done that'd be great.

Sorry no pics haven't done it yet due to no money for paint.

i think something like this would look awosome on a sunfire
right here
yeah that hood is straight up sex, but that wouldnt go very well with the contour of the sunfire hood....but it's still an idea to consider, thanks.

Have you considered doing kinda the reverse on these ideas?
Like in #1, obviously you'd be making the cut towards the front edge of the hood and pushing that piece in to get the VIS look. What if you made the cut toward the back edge and pushed that piece in instead? Kinda like the Turbo Sport look.
Then in #2, again instead of making the cut towards the front of the hood and pulling the piece up for a Ram Air look you could make your cut along the back edge, pull it up and give it kind of a Cowl Induction look.
I may be talking out of my a$$, but I just thought I'd throw out some variations. Either way, I respect you for taking on the project. Good luck, man!
Make a short (not tall) shaker, that sticks out the hood and 1 1/2"-2" That would be really sweet, and very custom looking.

i'm not quite sure what back edge you're talking about, but i kind of got an idea of what you're talking about.
you're not talking out your ass, i love the different ideas people are throwing at me and thanks for the good luck, we might need it.

The shaker thing is what I suggested in the first reply. If you really wanted to be pontiac correct, find a junk T/A circa 1977 and just do it!
