I really want to cut in some vents in the hood in order to extract heat from the engine compartment. Any thoughts?
Sounds like a cool idea to me. You could make a functional air intake too. Just watch that rain/snow/animals don't end up falling on top of your engine.
Yeah, I think frankly you can do it with a Dremel, haha, but you might wanna get it professionally done so it doesn'tlook awful and fall apart.
I was happy when I heard my car ran 10s. Then I found out that was 0-60.
i suggest just buying an extractor hood
I did just that when I put my header on (non-ceramic coated). Anyway, what I did was put 3 up just left of the center of the hood because I don't like symetry and I didn't have to cut into the hood frame. I also put two down low and modifiied them so air could come in. It worked very well, looks cool, and is functional. Remove the hood, cut out templates the shape and size you want. Then tape the hood where the holes are going to go, trace the shapes and go to town with the dremel. You'l go thorugh quite a few blades but go very very slow cause one slip and you are going to have to repaint. When I was done I painted the edge of the cut and fitted a molding over the edge to give it a very finished look. I then installed mesh and cut a piece of aluminium (chrome) (with the same holes) to cover the mesh on the inside that gave it a finished look under the hood. I'd post pics but don't know how and don't want to learn cause everyone is a critic. If you want some pictures just e-mail me and I'll shoot some for ya and get them to you that way.
Pictures and maybe a diagram would be Awesome if you can get them to me! My email is anuchtal@yahoo.com. By the way--no criticism here whatsoever--if you can email someone ictures, then you can post them just as easily! When you select the various options for uploading them to the website, the file path will remain the same (depending on where you saved them). If you are having trouble utting them ON the computer, your camera should have a cable that hooks into a port that looks like a fork with little circles on it's "tines." This is the USB port. Most modern computers will register this as the "F" drive. Your pictures will be in there and uploadable. On the other hand, hard copy scanning is probably easier, but finicky. Hope that is of some use.
Hey Rob,
I sent you some pics. Let me know if you have any questions. Hope this helps.
By the way, I finally have time to thank you for the pics...Thanks!
