Clear Coat Question
Sunday, June 18, 2006 8:08 PM
I think I am posting in the right spot. I haven't had a car painted before. Well this is the first car I have actually thought about seriously having things done to. But, right now I planning the color for it. I THINK, I have one decided. My dad is the one who plans on painting the car. The clear coat, we don't want it glossy. So what do you look for when you look for a non gloss clear coat? What would it be labeled as? He says there is one. Sorry I'm so clueless, just asking for a little assistance. Thanks.

What colour have you decided on? Do you want the car to be dull like a primer?

ppg makes a flat n` flex clear but why on earth would you want to apply a flat clear???
clear is made to protect the base, from uv light, the car looks like a freakin diamond when its is shinny lol
i dunno its your car go for it

Well it's an idea for now, because I won't be able to do this for a while. But I am so eager to figure out what I want to do with it, I'm like "now, I need to know now." This color, my dad suggested...and I was kind of leary at first because I like shiny over flat. I agree with you. But the more I think about this color the more I am thinking of going for it. I just want something different. If I am going to do something to make it look good I might as well for different. Any ideas are welcomed, I'm playing around with it for now. But so far this looks like my number one option. It would look pretty cool. My dad already has white paint. But then I see a lot of sedan cavaliers in white and red. I was almost thinking of sticking with the blue I have on it now...but I'm not sure. Any thoughts? Thanks everyone.

might wanna look into a single stage paint as opposed to a base coat/ clear coat.

The world is a beautiful place.... but I wouldn't want to paint it.

if ya want to be different then do modifications to the body, to make that new paint stand out more
not apply a flat black or some other material that will just have to come off to repaint the car again
so find a great looking color maybe some graphics more on that line

Thanks, I'm glad I came to you guys. I'll get it figured out I'm sure. I'm starting to agree with you about not going with this color.
