'99 to '03 Front End Conversion - Question
Sunday, August 13, 2006 5:10 PM
Christ, my last thread was locked without my question even being answered! I posted a second reply stating I found the info in the sticky, but I had additional questions!! What the hell is up with this site? Are threads now locked without even reading what is in them??

DON'T LOCK THIS THREAD!! READ!!!!!!

Anyway, this is the info from the sticky:

03-05 Cavalier
- 03-05 Cavalier Headlights(with plastic mount, its what bolts down the headlight)
- 03-05 Front Bumper
- 03-05 Fenders(00-02 can be used, IF you remove the corner bracket if you have a 00-02, also 95-99 can be used IF and only you cut off the bracket that holds the 95-99 turn signals on)
- 2 x 9007 High/Low Beam Bulbs
- 2 x 3157 Turn signal Bulbs(any 3rd Gen has these for turn signals so not necessary unless you need new bulbs, you can use what came with your car)
- 2 x 194 Bulbs for turn signals(any 3rd Gen(except 00-02 Cavaliers) have these for turn signals so not necessary unless you need new bulbs, you can use what came with your car)
- From the donor car's wiring harness, or two 9007 headlights sockets(unless you have a 95-02 Sunfire, or 00-02 Cavalier, these already use this bulb for headlights) and two 194 corner light sockets(Only needed if you have a 00-02 Cavalier, all the rest have this bulb already wired on your side markers or part of your turn signals)

No where in there does it say if the 95-99 hood can be used. It doesn't look the same as the '02-'05 Cav hood.

As far as the fenders go, all I have to do is cut out the the bracket for the turn signal?

I read in another post that there are additional brackets needed to mount the front bumper. Anyone know anything about that??

What? I think you are confused my friend. Let me correct this for you.

1995-2002 Cavalier hoods - all the same.

2003-2005 Cavalier hoods - all the same.

Sorry, that was a typo. I meant '03-'05. So I would need a new hood, headlights, and front bumper. Everything else I can use??

As far as the hood goes, can I buy an '03 hood and bolt it up to my car? Bolt holes line up, etc.?

Anyone know about needing extra clips to mount the '03 bumper?

Also, will the black plastic piece that covers front end of the engine bay (underneath the hood) work with the '03 bumper and headlights?

I want to make sure I know what I am getting myself into before I go ahead with all of this.

ok so you have a 99 right. so as long as you get the bumper, hood, and headlights you should be fine. its the same car underneath from 95-05. the outside styling change, but it will still bolt up as long as you have all the pieces. do not expect to fit an 05 cav hood on a 99 cav. it just wont work unless you have the whole front end.

if you have further questions regarding the swap, post in the sticky thread. that's what it's there for.
