Help wtih badges
Wednesday, August 16, 2006 9:58 PM
Ok so I'll start by saying I figured my car being 9 years old would be a problem but regardless, I attempted to remove my badges yesterday and I got them off with no trouble. My problem was that the goo just wouldn't come all the way off. I scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed as hard as i could for quite a while. I tried using goo gone, spray nine, and rubbing alcohol. But it still wouldn't all come off so can anyobdy please help me with this? I really wanna take these off! Thanks for any help.

i used 3M Wax and Adhesive Remover. put a little on a rag, soak the goo for a while, then use a plastic paint scraper to get it off. make sure to use a plastic one, cause that won't be as likely to scratch your paint (didn't scratch mine, but just be careful anyway).

Well I guess I'm just outta luck untill I'm ready for new paint because that S@%! just won't come off. It even started taking the paint and clear with it! So for the second time I just put the badges back on and gave up. But thanks for the help.

Spray loads of WD-40 on it, and leave it in the hot sun for a couple of hours. It'll practically wipe off after that!!

I got this thing called a Scobie pad at the grocery store. It is a little sponge with a soft plastic net around it. I sprayed goo gone all over the adhesive and then lightly scrubbed it off. Came off pretty easily. I looked closely and it looked like it did not scratch the paint at all. I'll probably put some Meguiar's Scratch X on it tomorrow just to be safe though.

Well I hate to say it but I've alreayd scuffed up the paint around the area on the passenger side pretty bad and still have had no luck removing the adhesive completely so I decided to just cut my losses and move on to the next project for now. But thanks again for your guys' input! Later

i have found that scratch x works the best, even though its for scratches it gets almost anything off of the car. prolly help with those scratches you put in to.

H3ll yeah. Goo Gone and a credit card was what I used. Took off the badges, the adhesive, and even the adhesive that was left over from the dealership's sticker coming off. That stuff had been there for years and the Goo Gone took it off in just a few seconds.
