Toyota taillight question

Just wondering if the amber lights are suppose to come on when you hit the brakes.

No. Make sure you cut the right white wire in the steering column harness.

Ok, so do any lights on the tails come on when I hit the brakes, im guessing the driving lights that are already on just get brighter. Ill look at it tomm

The parking lights are supposed to come on (the red part). The amber is an independent turn, and, as far as I know, does not light up w/ the parks.

I'm guessing you read the wiring instructions for the rest of the how-to

Ah ok then, I didnt cut any wire in the steering column. At the time I didnt see it nessesary but Ill go cut it tomm and see if that fixes the problem

well after you cut the white wire, you'll have to tap into your 3rd brake light in order for your brake lights to work..theres a how to that i did awile back on em...jus run a search...

you have to cut a wire in the steering colum to make the turnsignal and brake light seperate. so the red is always on, then red gets brighter with brakes...then amber is strictly turn signal. just like it is on some modles of cars taht you see amber on the tail lights. there is a write up somewhere. i did mine a month or 2 ago and it was pretty easy. you make your brakes come from the 3rd break light. ill look for it right now.

I did tap the 3rd brake light wire, I just didnt cut the white wire in the steering column. I didnt do it mainly b.c I dont recall the instructions saying why I was cutting this wire. So I was curious as to what it did. Thanks guys!
