Hey guys,
I'm going to have to replace my fenders in the future and wondered how the aftermarket "Z3" fender (fiberglass) have worked out concerning fit, etc.? Also, where is a reliable place to buy from?
ProCarParts.com I think had them for a while real cheap, probably the same ones from ebay. Did not fit right, I had to sand a @!#$ load of fiberglass by hand to clear the door from hiting the fender. After all said and done, there was a half and inch gap between the fender and hood (I can live with it). If ur going ebay there will be small imperfections such as small dimples, spider cracks, since they are copies of actual expensive metal Z3 fenders. They've lasted me 4 years, they have survived a slight crash that totaled my front bomex, and alot of parking idiots. If you decide to buy them, simply touch up the imperfections w/bondo, and give them a light sanding. The holes pre-made to drill, wont aling right w/stock holes, so you'll need a marker or pencil to plot the actual areas, you might need to drill new holes into the frame as well. Fit everything 1st, then paint. Or you can use your current metal fender and mold on Z3 style vents. Check my profile pic, i have the entire fibergalss fender w/ a little mod.
