Hey, i need to get new headlight bulbs for my fire; my eurolight fusions burnt out, no suprise there,lol.........
I am unsure of how the kelvin temp. work, like the higher the kelvin a bulb is rated at ' does that mean the bulb is brighter, or does it mean the higher the kelvin that the bulb has more color.
I was looking at the jdm yellow bulbs, 2500k, then there are the pure blue ones that are like 6000k, quite a difference but i can see both having quite a bit of color so i am unsure how the kelvin temperatures work....
I have had several pairs of the eurolight headlight bulbs over the years in my sunfire, my old asuna, and my girlfriends tracker and all the bulbs burn out after a short period of time.
what 9007 bulbs do you guys reccomend i get, brand and color?
Thanks for any help you can lend me........

Id recommend getting the Silverstar bulbs, very bright, have no trouble at all with them. I have the regular 9007 Silverstars , not the Silverstar ULTRA, (purchased them before the ULTRAs came out) regular 9007s run about 4000k
Some people love silverstars, some hate them...i had a set and couldnt see anything, but ive seen peoples that are amazing, i dont know what the deal is there.
I have luminics titanium whites...there not to bad, but in the rain i cant see squat..pretty good headlight overall
you know what happens is that the people that have silvestar and are amazed by them is because of ignorance they pretty much havent had or seen any better, thats why they think they are so cool and white but they are not white as advertised
the only thing that is good is the you can see better than stock but the color is not white i was very dissapointed by those siolvestar bulbs
a week ago i got the luminics titanium white oh my gish what a difference the difference is big the luminics are so white with a blueish and purple tones , is a whole lot whiter but is also less brighter but nothing to worry about
i would say is like stock when the sivlestar are better than stock but thir white color sucks
i would say get luminics they are great , i wasnt very sure when i bought them but now i love them
Here is a diagram that should help you:
Basically the Kelvin rating is the color temperature of the bulb. As you can see in the diagram the lower Kelvin ratings contain more yellow in the light, and the higher ratings contain less yellow and are more blue in light. So a 2500K bulb will appear more yellow than a 6000K bulb which will appear more blue because it contains less yellow.
Be aware that there is a limited range of temperatures that are legal for road use, so try to keep your headlight selection within the "legal white limits" box.
Hope that helps.. Good luck

It's where I got the diagram from.
EDIT: I made a mistake in the original post.. I originally said that lower Kelvin rated bulbs are brighter than higher rated ones but I don't believe that is the case actually, I think it all comes down to wattage and the design of the bulb & the housing that effects the brightness.. I'm guessing your bulbs had a short life because they were of a high wattage? I think bulbs running on higher wattage than stock tend to burn out quicker..

The best thing ive found was an HID conversion. I had the silverstars in mine and both blew out within 6 months. I still have them in my fog lights. Compared to my hid's they look like @ss! The difference between higher wattage bulbs and HID's is like night and day. Just remember, whatever you decide to get choose wisely. If you get a higher wattage bulb you run the risk of melting a socket. The HID system uses less wattage and puts out more than 3x's the light. As far as the Kelvin rating goes, The higher the rating, the more blue color you get. 2500K will be yellow, where 8000K & up will get more blue. I have the 8000K on mine.
6000k pure blues will probally be pretty blue then eh?
I think i want either yellow or the pure blues from lumincs........
Thanks everyone, helped a great deal.......

Just remember that the higher above 4300k-5000k (stock HID) you go, the less light output you will get with HID's. As for halogen, anything with a coating on the bulb will reduce light output (i.e. hperwhite bulbs), but you gain a more white color, which in turn reflects off of street signs etc. better.
No, 6oook will be mostly white with a slight tint of blue. Are you looking at HID or just higher wattage halogen? Like I said, I have 8000K HID and they arent completly blue. The 10k-12k are the blue and purple ones. Hope that helps you.
On the web sites with the "pure blue" luminics halogen 9007 bulbs it says they are 6000k, so they should be pretty blue, compared to say superwhites that are 4000k................
Yes i am only talking about halogen bulbs, i dont have money for a hid kit.......

Ok. Sorry about the confusion. Luminics pure blue bulbs will be blue. I was just going by the HID rating scale where the higher the number after 6000K the bluer they get. Im not sure about those bulbs, but my silverstars started to melt my socket. Just be carefull when you go to a higher wattage bulb.
Cool, thanks cartman05...
I dont think the pure blue luminics bulbs will be any higher in wattage; i really dont know; not sure what the eurolights are for wattage, never had a problem with them,........

Anyone know the wattage draw of a oem 9007 halogen bulb, just plain jane regular bulb????
For example the jdm yellow luminics bulb has a wattage draw of 65/45, and they are 2500 kelvin wich is the temperature.......
I WANT to get a nice bulb but i dont want to burn my sockets ....
If the wattage of the bulb is the same as oem ones, i should be fine right, or does the kelvin temperature of the bulb cause the socket to melt as well??????
Ultra violet 9007's are like 7000k +, but the watts they draw are the same as the yellow wich are only 2500k; and i now know that the lower the kelvin the more yellow the bulb will be, and the higher the kelvin the more blue it will be, i guess with the exception of the violet bulbs wich have a higher kelvin then the pure blues but are not blue but are purple, lol i am confused,lol...

The stock or oem bulbs are at a rate of 55 watts. Any more wattage than that you will risk the possibility of melting your sockets. Im not saying the will melt right away, but over time they may. Like I said, mine started to melt after only a few months.
cartman 05-what hid kit do you have? i like my lumunics as i stated above, but i want something that will shove a little more light.
I have the Mcculluch 8000K conversion. It will show at least 3x more light than what you have now. Out of all the other bulbs I have tried, I can still see light on the ground when its raining with the HID's I have now. Now, when I drive a car with stock bulbs I feel like I dont have the headlights on.
What color luminics do you have 97cfcavy?

Anyone have the pure blue luminics 9007 bulbs in their car, any problems with melting sockets or anything; just wondering because they are like 6000k......
any pics of either the jdm yellow 9007 or the pure blue's on durning the day????????

Is it the wattage draw, or the wattage out put you have to be concerned about with halogen bulbs so that you dont melt anything?
ie:
Bulb Type: 9007
Sold As: Twin Pack [Pair]
Wattage [draw]: 65/45
Wattage [output]: 140/120
Color: JDM Yellow
Color Temp: 2500K
Warranty: 90 Days
would these be okay; are they close to oem bulb specs?

I have the Silverstars...the wattage is 65/55. They put out ~4000K. So they're bright. They're good lights. All my friends have them and like them. But I heard they have durability issues though..

end. Your still a retard."
I dont want the silverstars; too stock looking imo; i want something that stands out like yellow or pure blue; i had tons of sets of the superwhites in the past; tired of them.

Blue headlights aren't legal, and neither are lights that are too yellow.. you need to select a bulb that falls within the "legal white limits" box of the graph I posted.. or your risking a ticket. Also, blue is not a good headlight color because wet pavement absorbs the light.. you wont see very well after dark in the rain.
Cool thanks wootburgers for the info and help.
I think i am going to go with the yellow; a little more legal then blue since blue are cop colors.
I had tons of super whites in the past, tired of them time for a change; and no one in my area has yellow bulbs in their cars; i wont to stand out from them...... i will take my chances; have with my tint and green bulbs for like three years now no problems at all(knock on wood),lol
Thanks......
Anyone have pics of the yellow 9007's in their cars? i know some of you bought them in the group purshase a few months back......
