ive searched and have not really found alot (all i found was to sand) i was kinda looking for a step by step type thing any help would be appretiated.
Step 1 - Get Sandpaper
Step 2 - Apply salve to sore arms after 28hours of sanding
ORRR...This is my work in progress for about 3 months, have onyl actually spent 25 minutes on it..just to busy with school...
Tools:
Good Vise
Angle Grinder, grinder disk and cut-off disk.
Drill (cordless is very nice)
Grinding Stone attachment for drill
Flap wheel (course)
Place manifold in the vise, via the plenum. Do not over tighten. Grab the Angle Grinder with the CUT-OFF disk. All those ugly, useless 'knubs' sticking up, just cut them all off really close to the intake runners. Now, switch to the Grinding Disk. Start grinding away lightly to remove most/all of the cast marks. Be sure not to take to much metal, i just scuff up the surface really. Use the grinding disk to get everything close to shape. (on the runners)...NOW grab the drill with the grinding stone. Ths helps you get in between all the runners, will take a while, but faster than sand paper!! Grab the Flap wheel (you may need a couple of these) and just start 'sanding away' once everything is close to smooth, you are going to have to break out the elbow grease and get to work by hand. The pre steps should help a lot. Like i said, that is how i am going about my manifold. I am going to paint mine too though (flat or gloss black, undecided..my IDI cover is flat black..so might look good to match), so i doubt ill need it quite as fine-tuned as you will to be polished. Either way, best of luck.
