I recently purchased a factory lip kit for a 00-02 Sunfire (Same as RKSports kit) but the front lip is made for a SE model....I have a GT and I want to modify the front lip to make it fit my bumper. Has anyone done this before (Besides Jeff Rutter...that's why I was asking about him ), or seen it done or know how to do it? It looks like it has to be widened and also extended around the sides but im not sure how to go about widening plastic...I was thinking about bolting in steel for strength and then fiberglassing over top to get the shape???? Any ideas? Any pictures would also be great.... Thanks for any help.

To my knowledge there are only two people who have done this; Jeff is the only one that has done it with a '00-'02 GT. Laffs99GT has also done it, but he has a '95-'99 GT with the '00-'02 SE lip. You might want to try contacting Laffs99GT if you're not having any luck getting in touch with Jeff.

From what I remember from Jeff's posts though, it wasn't easy and the finished product was very low to the ground since the GT bumper is lower than the SE bumper. I believe Jeff stated it being so low as his reason for selling it, don't quote me on that though.

I have talked to Laffs99GT but he only had to shorten his lip......that is much easier. Do you know if Jeff had his car lowered? I think he did and that would explain why it would be so low to the ground

Jeff had to cut it in the middle and fill in the 4 inch gap in the middle with fibreglass. His car was lowered, yes... but I don't know with what springs. He's since sold the car...

ya so basically i just cut the skirt in have and made each side fit perfect and the just filled in the center portion with fiberglass and body filler. i have to put alot of screws in the the lip to make it match the bumpers curve but you never show any of them so it does not matter how many screws you use. cuz only you will know.

and also my car was lowered about 2 1/2" on Sprint springs and yes it was very low to the ground here are some pic before i took the bumper and sold it..

you can see it hit a few things with the bumper. and the lips was not perfect at thsi point because i did brake a few of the screws that was holding on the lip..
