Wednesday, May 09, 2007 10:08 AM
OK so i read the thread on disabling the Drl's....I have i 97 cavo hence i cut the blue wire....I went out last night, and the side effects of me cutting the blue wire was ridiculous, First the damn DRL flashes insanely, second i have no High beams, when i turn the high beams on the one right light head light gets really bright...and my low beams are now crazy dim to the point where my corner lights are brighter.. I need some help before the next night fall....

Sounds to me like you may have cut the wrong wire.

reconnect the wire...... and read the DRL sticky again..... (idk, I left my drl's alone, and my buddies either click the e-brake up one click, or go to the dealer and have them disabled with the Tec 2)

cutting the wire isnt the correct way. i remember seeing someone post a different way to do it and that was the more prefered way over cutting the wires.

eh i dunno. the drls dont bother me. i dont see the big deal

Cutting the wire behind the gauge cluster is the correct way for 95-99. As far as I have seen any other method will cause the DRL indicator on the cluster to flash. A lot of people are upgrading to HID lights and have no choice but to disable the DRLs.

read it again, you take out the relay, don't cut any wires and then use a jumper wire inside the fuse panel where you took out your relay, don't remember the number to number sequence but I did this mod and there is no way to stop the light flashing doing it this way and when the brights are on only one side works but when you use the jumper wire both will work.I ended up putting the relay back in,I hate flashing lights on my cluster.

I've disabled the DRLs in more than one 95-99 Jbody and I've tried two different ways. On my current car (99 sunfire), I just cut the one wire behind the cluster. I have had no problems and my DRL indicator does not flash at all.

Reconnect it and try the other blue wire. I'm pretty sure its the other blue one (I think I can see it in the picture close to where the wires go into the tape).

jumper wire to pins 30 and 87a,take off cluster panel and cover drl light with elect. tape,
that is the way I did it before going back the way it was

in the fuse box,it is a black three prong,I believe, take that out and your drl's won't work then make a jumper
wire and do as I described above,if the flashing DRL light bugs you then follow the other instructions I mentioned.
I'll post pics if you still have trouble

I cut the wire, was pin b7 i think....?? Should be right next to the purple wire. Then again Lenko knew that for sure for a 99 cav and thats what i had. Check your fuses again if your lights are acting stupid still.

Taken from the Sticky:
Quote:

For 96-99 you cut the smaller blue wire. (Cavalier = pin B8 Sunfire = pin B7)

I finally got some where i went to the junk yard this morning and got a new harness and wired it on and replaced the headlight relay... the daytime running lights light stopped flashing, . and the passneger side works fine, i think it has something to do with the relay now
