Rust issues?

I have an 03 cavalier with 66k miles. I bought the car from someone so it was a private sale. Do I still have any kind of warrentee to cover this? Its not really rust yet. it is bubbling on the bottom of my door on the inside. You would have to get down and look at it as it isn't on the outside. Its like the really thin or squished part at the very bottom of the door.

most cars from a dealer come with a 3 year 36k mile warranty. I know my fire did but you say that you bought it from a private seller? Like a auction type seller or like a person... Worst comes to worst you can A take it to GM and see if it has an EXT warranty or just get the issue fixed at a body shop!!

Shouldn't be a hard or expensie fix because its not in sight from the outside. Id say all thats needed to be done it sane it down to make sure all the rust is gone, then paint it over. Shouldnt need to paint the rest of the door if its only on the back.

Worked at a Gm dealership had to fix that in alot of their vehicles, all we did was strip the to bare steel, blast if necessary, prime seam seal then paint

Canadian winters give our cars a beating up here.

But hey, health care is cheap, and cops are pretty cool about the chronic,

remember..rust is cancer it starts and wont stop un less it is stoped...

if its bubbling the surface rust is starting under the paint so best idea is to tape off a square on you door around the spot, sand untill all rust is gone and only metal is showing, prime with sandable primer, sand again, prime with sealer, color match spray paint or have door resprayed..cheap way

buy new door from GM..expencive way

privite sale= as is sale...car is sold as is when transction is complete unless some other writtin document is agreed upon with a warrenty type deal

My 03 cav has the rust on the bottom of the doors inside, as well as below the gas tank area...near the fender. Pretty ugly thing to see and its getting worse. Funny thing is, the previous owner had it 'rust-proofed'. yet there's still rust?????? and yes, Florida is the best. I am currently there visiting my sister and getting away from the Rochester, NY nasty winter and I just can't help to love the fact that its so clean (and warmmmm) here without any snow/ice/slush/salt. All cars are pretty much clean! lol. crazy in the middle of March. Anyway I am going to have to have a friend fix the rust spot near the gas tank. Once the doors start going...thats it, im selling it, and moving down! (a dream of mine!! :-) )

I thought there was some body or paint warranty from GM on them regardless of seller. i thought it was a 5 year or something...

im sorry to take the spotlight off you Dumont, but i just wanted to show the rust on my car. As eco has said...rust is like cancer. This rust spot started out small bubbles...and now look at how nasty it got. As I said...its getting worse...it needs some major tlc. If i recall, theres rust also in the gas tank area when you open up the lil door.

Typical on out J's. Ill bet there are guys with the rust and dont know yet. 3 years 36K thats it. and their rust warranty sucks, it takes several times to repair the same panel before they replace that panel. Steel and rust go hand in hand, you can slow it down by cleaning it and repainting but thats just a band-aid not a fix, gotta cut the whole rusted area out and replace it by a Qualified repairer that has the skills to prevent the rust with weld resistant primers and internal panel coatings.
If It really bothers you , you may have to park it and get a daily driver that you can let rust and not feel so bad about it.
If you drive it every day in rain and snow it will rust ther is no stopping it, so dont kid yourself.
Also look at the front of the hood(underside) , the trunk underside, the seam in the rockers where the Quarter attaches(2 door), rocker pinchwelds , bottom of both doors, rear part of quarters as stated before, and Rear bumper reinforcement.
