I and looking to buy a carbon fiber hood. Any style other then the extractor. I was just wondering what brands to stay away from and how the fit and finish is on them. Any Help wound be appreciated. Also web links to places that got good prices would be helpful.

I heard that VIS or RkSport are the best....I don't like knocking companies, but I would stay away from Whiteboy Customs
Yeah i got a Vis New Cf hood and i threw it on for pictures and fit 100 % which is always for sale 375 shipped
I got mine from Jason at APlus, its not quite the top of line quality like the VIS but its a lot cheaper and its still carbon fiber. The fitment is great, its just got a few minor flaws in the weave. I have no idea what brand it is though.
If you got the extra cash, or your building a real showcar that has to be perfect go for the VIS otherwise this one is fine.
CarbonConcepts Turbo Sport hood over here! paid alot 4 it. but i love how i'm one of the hand full of people w/ it! weave is perfect w/ one flaw in it!

EVo hood here on my 04 Sunny...look great fits great....was hella expensive because a body shop bought it...
one thing to keep in mind... NOONE makes a good quality fits like stock hood for a cavalier. I see alot of people talking about how nice the hood/trunk they bought is and how well it fits... I don't know if people are blind or just have real standards but don't expect much.
The weave wont be perfect, there will be dimples in the coating, it wont be wide enough which leaves big gaps between the hood and fenders.
I personally owned a VIS and currently a JSP/Carbon Fiber Tech and seen many many more J-body hoods in person... your best bet, buy the cheapest one you can find casue paying extra for a quality brand wont get you quality, just a badge on the underside.
E-bay FTW
Where is the cheapest place anyone has found CF hoods with shipping?
CF-Tec when they had the group buy. Or find someone sellin one.

my carbon by design TS hood was mint. no weave issues, no gaps, no fitment issues, etc. then again i think it was one of the first ever produced
but i agree, i must have gotten the lone freak, cus that hood was one of the handfull ive ever seen that were decent.
i agree with u the vis invader hood i have fits like ass
5 seconds to find another street...
i bought one of the CF tech OEM with the eyelids from the group purchase and the quality is really really good, but the fitment is not 100%
I heart my Turbo sport hood.. no flaws in the bitch at all granted she needs a new clear coat which shell have soon I hope

so do most of you fit n the blind or the low standard category LOL
Like I said everyone says there's is good quality. I'll believe I'd when I see it in person. btw joey is the only person so far that I'll take his word for it based off what he's done with his car. Granted I've never seen it personally and pics always hide flaws.

I agree with this. I had the invader when i first got my sunfire. SUCKED BALLS....was installed crooked. so i tok it to a shop, and after 2 days of playing with it, they couldnt make it any better.
I now have the evo style hood on the sunfire, and it has MAYBE a 1/4 gap along both fenders, straight as an arrow, and gorgeous. the only ares where there are weave issues or anything is there the fiber does a 90 degree bend, or goes into a boxed corner......

you should see the flaws in that hood now, lol.....or at least the few pieces left of it
Thanks for the replies everyone. I am now leaning torwards the oem or turbosport. Cheapest i have found the oem is $400 and the turbosport for $800. Anybody know where to find the turbosport cheaper?

Erebuni hood.
Not the best and yes, it has flaws but then again, I wasn't looking for a perfect hood either.
$535 bucks out the door at a local tuner shop.

Thank you Dave and JBO!
ive got a c/f tech OEM style hood and am happy with it.. the quailty isnt top notch and the fit is kinda iffy but its fine for me im not too picky plus u cant really notice the flaws unless u really look... id say to stay away from c/f tech i kno i will NEVER order anything from them again.. i suggest ViS they seem to make the best c/f hoods for our cars although ive never seen one in person many ppl who post on this site have them and have good things to say about them...

if it wasnt for the lack of 1/8 inch around my entire VIS oem style hood it would fit perfect. other than that the thing IS perfect and i couldnt be happier. if only it had that 1/8th inch all the way around....
Rollin' on question marks since 07.

Your right for the most part but in some cases paying the extra $$ will get you finished edges which is nice because the hood/fender gap will be bigger....
boosted eco - CF-Tec will charge you anywhere from $450-$500 for an OEM hood + shipping......Best bet would be look in the classified there will probably be one in the fall for $350 - $400 if yout not in a real hurry....
