Where to get my kit painted?
Wednesday, December 31, 2008 7:42 AM
I was wondering if anyone could help me out. Im new to this whole Jbody thing. I just picked up a 1999 Z24 and purchased a kit from extremeparts.ca The guys were great to deal with and they delivered the kit to my house for free. It took about 4 days to arrive but it looks pretty good. I purchased the Buddy Club II kit for $500.

Im just wondering if anyone knows where i should take it to get installed and painted. It comes in a white gel Coat finish , and the mounting holes need to be drilled. I live in the 401 & Weston Area so if anyone knows any good shops to take it to, that would be great.

uhhh, try your regional forum?

i would test fit before paint also, as fiberglass kits have a tendency not to fit well or need extra work.

Im not making an attempt to turn anyones attention or head away from MAACO but I have only delt with them once and I will NEVER ever deal with them again.

My mother used to drive a 99 Hyundai Elantra which was keyed up by who we think is an ex of mine. Long story.. Chick though it was my car since I was driving it at the time, but anyways. My moms car was keyed all to hell so we took it to maaco. 4 days later we got the car back. You could still feel the indents on where the scratches were, we asked them to locate and remove any and all dents and dings that they could. None were removes. We asked them to repaint the car to its stock colors/pin-striping. When we got the car back they had forgotten the pinstriping and they painted half of the muffler.

When we first saw the car we pointed out the obvious notable mistakes and asked them to fix the mistakes. They said to reprocess the car it would cost us another $200 ontop of the near $900 for the over-all cost of the paint job.

Long story short, we took them to court, kept our $1100 and took the car to a hole in the wall paint shop and the replacements did an excellent job. They removed all panels from the car and painted everything individually. Took them 2 days where as maaco took 4 days for the crap job they had done.

Now granted the only reason I went to maaco in the first place was because I had heard good things about them too, and on a long list of good customer reviews I am the only person who I know who has had a bad experience or dealing with them, but that is just my two cents as it is most likely our local maaco around here.

My friend got his car repainted at maaco and the paint job looks like they took a paintbrush and smeared it over sandpaper with their teeth.
