Okay I have a couple different ideas for the stock rear tails on my '03.
The way they look now.
Idea 1:
On the side pieces, I was thinking of just painting the outer edge black, leaving the rest alone. On the center section, I was thinking of painting most of it except for the outline of the original('95-'02) tails.
Idea 2:
On all pieces, paint everything black except for the light lenses. Kind of like the way GM did for the '04-'05 Impala SS's as seen
here.
Which idea do you guys think would be a good option, especially as I'm trying to make my car into an SS that GM would of made from the factory.
On a side note, I would of done a kind of highlight think on the photos, but I don't have a good photo editing software at the moment, but I may later simulate it with tape.

ive seen the pot 2 alot on the 03-05s and it looks good body color matched.
When I first bought my '04, I did what you are suggesting in your second idea..didnt look too bad, but I eventually got tired of it and swapped to '02 tails
Not worth it IMO. The 00-02 swap looks alot nicer.
I did what you were thinking on your second idea, although I have a silver cav and painted em black.
I like it alot, gives the cav a bit of a unique look.
Plus I don't feel like picking up a 02 trunk just yet haha.
Otherwise, Toyo tails plz.

Tis true, but as I had stated before, I'm trying to do something that may of been from the factory.

Heheh, yeah, I know how that search can be. Even though I can go to a salvage yard and have them find it, but not as good of a deal as doing the search myself.

IMO the 00-02 tails should have been factory.
both have been done, both look meh

i plan on doing it, except a few different changes. i plan on using sunfire sedan outers, tinting the reverse red, and color matching the silver bar/ bow-tie with the paint scheme i picked out
so worst rendering ever but you get the point
sidenote the silver is supposed to be darker

Oh
So you mean like this Idea that I have had thought up forever and ever,
but never go around to doing on the 03 before its demise?!?
I have many other slightly different versions I was thinking of doing with them as well,
just never ended up happening

Nice. Well, it never hurts, at least not too much, to make a post and see if anyone else has/have/going to do something like this. And also to see what anyone else has to say about it. Thanks for the pic though and nice job.

I personally don't know what Chevrolet was thinking when they put that light bar in. It was one of the first things to go on my 05. I ended up getting a CF trunk with a shaved keyhole and running 95-99 tails. I'm looking at new tails at the moment but having the 95-02 tail light area gives you more options for custom. You can probably find a trunk at a yard for cheap too. In the end...do whatever makes you happy. If painting the light bar does that, then give'r.

IMO this is the best solution. Not being lowered kinda hurts the look in the second pic, but hopefully in a week or 2 I can get some time to get it back down.
