ok i have a 99 cav. sadan . and i was thinking bout what kind of paint job i wanted and i cant make up my mind so i need some tips and things i should go by .

1 i know flat black is harder to paint and cover well and i know u can get a flat clear to keep it from fad.

2 i know gloss black is a 1 step paint proc. and its easier to work with

3. i know napa has some flat black the flatter clear for about 230.00 ? is that good or is there a place online for cheaper and

4. napa also for the gloss black is 145.00

5 im also puting some candy green acts on it like roll call and banner and on my rims with a green lip .. so i dont know wat black would look better?

thank you for ur imput.

flat if you want everyone to think your trendy or just have your car in primer and can't afford a paint job. or go gloss black if you want your car to look like its finished.

haha no its a plain banner .. and yea i got some parts for it but im getting parts during the winter and after i get it painted in the spring ill get my roll call . i just love how some of those cars look good when they are done right in flat or satin. but idk think it will look good with the candy green so im guessing the gloss wil look better with the green.+ trust me i dont wanna run around as a super ricer lol i least gotta have the parts we aready have some of the super rice burners run around with the half ass job with ton of stickers .. also an other tip i thought was ppl dont think much of wats under the hood of a flat black job even if its done goood .but i guess if im putin the stickers on the side that would be a hint

flat paint jobs are just a stupid trend lately. gloss black is a timeless paintjob.

nothing beats the look of a freshly waxed gloss black car.

Satin doesn't look bad...I looked at Furious 2.2's cavi and he did a very nice job on it.

even when done right it still just looks like a good primer job waiting on paint.

I like satin black paint jobs, but only when it's done right and it has to suit the car. All of these rattle canned stock bodied Cavaliers popping up lately look like primered turds. It's way too obvious it was just a quick cheap paint job from a can. It really irks me to see it happening to cars that had nice paint to begin with.

I did a gloss black on top and flat on the hood so I can still work on it with out having to sand through the clear.

Ahh.. spoken like a true kiddie!! lol

If you consider the 50's - 60's to be 'lately' I guess you would be correct - but then you would also be much older than me!!!

The semi gloss paint jobs were actually a step above those of us who ran plain primer. We put them in the same category as people with a custom paint job - who we called 'paint job' (in an insulting way). We could never understand why someone would spend money painting a car when that money could buy go-fast parts
