Well, I've been wanting a new car and it just became official I HAVE to have another car. I was looking at buying older but things changed a little and I can swing a car payment into my budget. I was thinking of all kinds of cars but I keep coming back to a cavalier. The body line is pretty nice and I just love this place so much and I know more about them then a lot of cars. More then anything i know I can get lots of help on them. Really i'm just looking for something to do some bolt ons and prollyrun some n20.
I don't know. Have any of you who just bought a new cav or any car for that matter felt this way? I want something kinda quick but i'm not rich so like an SRT-4 or a brand new redline is kinda outta the question.
I prefer to avoid lateral moves whenever possible.
Anyone else? Well i'm pretty sure i'm just gonna look at a new cav. I dont know if I should pick one up with 20k on the odometer or just buy new. I know I can get one with 23k on it for 6k out the door TT&L. But is it really worth it? I heard of people going out the door for like 8k but that was with GM discount.
So I figured about 9 out the door without GM discount. To me 23k miles isn't worth 3grand. So maybe i'll see what deal they can work me on an 03 I saw.
To me...23K miles is a good break in, and I saved three grand
But, if I had the extra 3 grand laying around, I might say f it and go new anyway.
Brakes? I don't need no stinking brakes....I have air bags

I just bought my new 2002 with 42k that is kilometers for those US friends and about 26K miles. I really think I'd spend the 3Grand on mods it is a good start.

Damn straight!
Really though, I say get something that is going to have a warranty for more than 15,000 more miles.

Hope you're lubing your cornhole for that one. Unless it's new or an '04 with under 10K on the odometer, there's no way in hell anyone should pay more than $4000 US for a Cavalier.
^^So you're saying that I got more than I should of when I just sold my '99 Z for $3600 without my aftermarket wheels or stereo?

I was going to buy another Cavi, but a 4dr because of the kids. Checked the trade in value on mine and changed my mind!

I must have been lucky also as I got $8800 for trade-in on my 02' Z24!
I'd say go for a new Cavalier...or even a Cobalt or a Sunfire
Cobalt is going to be too expensive for me.
How much are you looking to spend? Because the Cobalt may not be as expensive as you think
The CarsDirect price for a 2005 Cobalt 2dr Base Coupe is $13,358 with just the basics , $14,063 with Power options, keyless entry, and ABS. Not a bad price for a vehicle that is a huge improvement in every aspect over the Cavalier.
On the other hand, you could get a 2005 Cavalier base Coupe for about $10,700, possibly less depending if you can negotiate. An optioned-out 2005 Cavalier LS Sport will run you $14,129.
Hope those numbers help you out man, good luck on making a decision

i bought a new 04 cavalier in july i love it. i say try to go this them. they may be hard to find. i heard and agree that sunfires have better seats and stuff. the ECOTEC are faster that most think. or fast then what i thought
well, its gonna be more like 10k for a base coupe, cause the promo discounts they have at the moment are for the upper scale models, and with the 3k off msrp you will still pay 12-13k.
still, 10k for a new car with a ecotec and 5spd manual is nice...the promo deal they have going right now for the base coupes is the special financing. i have almost no credit history, only one small bank loan so my score was 72, and i still got 5.9 financing...
all i can say is, i love it...

i had zero credit history they are only worth it if u are going to run them in to the ground. no resale vaule
Well, damn! I was going to get me a base model victory red 05 with 3mies on the odometer. Out the door T.T&L 9,800. That was after a lil bargaining and military discount. I was thinking that wasn't too bad. I was gonna put down 1500 so I'd be financing 8300. Wow, not too bad. Well i'm co-signed on the Explorer I reccently got so they didn't want to do two cars. Even though I clearly made enough to pay for both vehicles =/ Oh well.
I'm actually kinda interested in this 91 Z24 red cav right down the street. They want 1800 put no way I'm paying that. I'm sure I could talk them down. Paint is faded in a few spots with some surface rust trying to start. Just needs some TLC. Nada blue book value on it says 1300 for its condition. So If I can get it for about 1k or 1,100 i'm gonna pick it up. I love the 2.8/3.1's. Its an auto but ehh what ever. What you guys think?
That base model should be $8000 before TTL. Is that what the price was? If not, they are holding out on you. My dad and I each got new 2005 Cavys for $7995 plus TTL last november.
8k, plus TTL is about just over 9 grand. 8.65% tax here in Louisiana. Thats the deal I was gonna get, but i'm not so doesn't really matter if it was 8grand or 18grand.
Beh, @!#$ you can take my payments over if you want.
03 4dr LS Sport, 30 grand on the clock, $246 a month, runs great I just want a Jeep Wrangler.
my dealership traided in a 02 ls sport just like mine.
28k
we put 6500 in it.
we will add a 800$ pack and make the bottom line 7,300
so we will put the car up for 9,695
and see what happens, it has eyeball.
keith-
so not paying more than 4k for a used cav is insane. a nice loaded 02 can fetch more than 4k
