I am so sick of these " I got ripped off" posts and related posts. If you don't know how to research a person or don't have the sources to research a person then don't buy. Too many people are being accused on here that don't deserve it and too many people are being ripped of because their dumb a$$ bought something from someone on here and then came on here and asks "hey org, does anyone know a person on here by the name of Joe Schmoe? I just bought something from him and want to know if he's legit." Enough with these posts! It makes this site seem like there a bunch of friggin kids on here with no common sense. Do the friggin research yourself and don't bring it on here to complain about it! Oh, and also, if the Seller says they shipped it out, don't come on here and bitch and complain that you didn't receive it 3 days later. Nobody wants to here that either!
Sorry if it sounds like I am speakin for everyone, just think those types of posts are childish!
Alex
most complaints on here are legitimate complaints. not everyone has a "background" on here that people can search for to find out if the person is good to do business with. there's many reasons why transactions go sour, and if e-mails aren't going through, sometimes you have to bring it to their attention another way.

I hear ya man but most of the times when it is brought on this website it is brought out with immaturity. Then it leads to talking trash then the thread gets locked because it got out of control. I find it hard to do bussiness with a person, not a company, but a person based on what people might say about them, possitive statements that is.
It's just rediculous to read about it and it's a waste of space! Just my opinion.
Alex
It's not a friggin waste of space. & not everyone who gets ripped off is, what did u call it? a dumb @ss. I've been ripped off by one person in my life and yes, I will complain about it-- it doesn't feel great losing $150. I want these posts to continue, so I can avoid being ripped off in the future. Legal actions are slow and I don't feel like going through all this crap again. I feel like posts like the one about Scott Machin are COMPLETELY necessary (too bad I didn't see it before I bought off him). Too bad all we can do is post on this site. I would love to absolutely RUIN his name. It's pathetic how some people get all their money and how they think they can get everything in life for free.... but enough about that.
I can understand where you are coming from. People are whiny sometimes and people do worry too much sometimes, but sometimes these posts ARE 100% necessary. I believe the "I got ripped off" posts do help both this site and the potential buyers from people on this site.
true, i just sold projectors to someone on here and he didnt want to buy from me. i dont have paypal so i told him to send me a mo. he didnt want to but i had to convince him. everyone one here that rips people off, makes it hard for people like me to get rid of extra parts because now everyone is too afraid to buy parts
I agree with Alex
I dont see what so hard about it..
If you want to buy something from someone you really dont know..either
A.) dont do it
B.) find someone who knows him/her
C.)Use paypal
D.) pay for it COD. They get the money when the goods come to your door. (best)
E.) meet the person face to face (best but not always possible)
*note: dont deal with PO boxes. Get full names and adresses before the transaction even starts. Dont send money or M/O blind.
Ive bought a few things from people on here, and sold them as well.
Never had a prob. But then again I only bought from people I knew personally or found enough references that I at least felt safe.Plus I followed my own rules above.
If I sold something I waited for the money to hit paypal first or I shipped the item COD.Its only a few bucks more, split the cost.
Im starting to see a lot of these rip off posts all over the damn forumn too...I feel bad for the people but then again you gotta think...you knew the risk.
Say it with me, "Its not what you know...It's what you can prove"
Also just to add Im referring to personal transactions between two members.
Not business/company/GP transactions..thats a totally different animal.
Say it with me, "Its not what you know...It's what you can prove"
^ not really. I hung out with scott 3 or 4 times, had a good time, and he ripped me off. so you cant "always know". people are sneaky!

And how would you suggest we research a person without people making these types of posts? Should we all run down and get police reports? Run credit checks?
Frankly, I appreciate the posts, even though they may (and usually do) get out of hand, it still offers insight on that person. Even if it isn't that persons fault, the way they handle themselves in the thread definately reflects on thier personal character, and can sway my decision to buy or not.

Buy stuff from CarCustoms Ebay! Won't be disappointed!
Use an escrow service, or someone in the middle that both parties trust.
RatZero wrote:Use an escrow service,
i second that, ESPECIALLY for high price items! to me, it seems real dumb to just trust someone when it involves several hundreds of dollars and more!
I think this thread talking about all those wastes of time, is also a waste of time.
Thanks for using up more space in the General forum

damn alex.....pissin people off heheheehehe gotta see the cc stickers and congrats on the baby...ps stop bitchin women
its nice to see the posts about people who are ACTUALLY a problem...
people complaining about stuff a week or sooner after they pay is simply ridiculous...
and i agree with shifted...the way people handle themselves inthe post determines whether whats posted about them is true or not....and people who say this clutters up the general forum ... HAH ... what would be in here if it wasnt for these posts? there would be a new post made ( besides the newb posts that get moved) every month or so by the occasional person saying goodbye i sold my cav/fire

I understand your point Shifted but if you can't research someone then don't buy, simple as that. I just can't see myself buying something from someone that I can't see or I don't know. Now, if it's my boy Nate (James) or The driver (Trevor) who lives in my area then fine....I know these people and if they screw me then they are only a few minutes away from me....(no offense guyys, just an example).
Why would people take their hard earned money and buy something from someone they never met? I don't care who references them! If they are not locally to you and you have to come on here and ask people about so and so then it's not worth it to me. I'd rather spend the extra monies and buy from a company.
Now, please, I don't disrespect people who do this in no way but I think it's crazy to do it this way.
Look at how many people got ripped off by this guy Scott. Im sure everyone who sent him money felt like he had good character...now look. You can't go by someones character here on the org because there is always a handfull of people who are here to take your money!
Thanks Nate for the congrats. Baby is doing great!
I just say wait until a deal comes along from a person you DO know. That's what I do. There may be deals out the arse of stuff you want for your car, but if you don't know the person, then you're just going to have to practice a little (or maybe a lot) patience until you get what you want safely.

if i dont know somoene... i find someone that i DO KNOW and TRUST who trusts the person im dealing with...then if something goes sour i rip my freinds underwear off through his mouth
anyone wanna be my freind? lol

It's important to have a thread about who's ripping off who, like how do u get sick of it ? All u have to do is go on a different forum and ignore the post about getting ripped off, is it that hard for you not to look at the general thread lol. Everybody needs guidance and especially when it comes to purchasing something from teh net. I cant believe you complain about such and important thing we need here. People need to know who to trust on this site and it's the only way we will be able to get rid of scammers. Thanks

Not well said brotha! If people just ignored posts then no one would be posting, but hey, I got you to look and post in this thread....lol....j/k. I guess people who buy from people they don't know will never learn! And they will always bring their story on here so others can laugh!

True and good point hehe, i wasnt trying to to get you pissed or argue with you, i was just stating why I feel like we need these kind of post. And i never laughed at people who got ripped off because i been there and it sucks big time, have you ever been ripped off before ??
~*Gilles*~
The only prob is when youre in a totally non related forum or thread and right after someone posts something..you get someone else who's next post is...
Dont trust ___________ he's a rip off
or
Dont listen to _ _ _ - _ he took my money.
Ive been to four totally different posts this week and it seemed liked this one person would immediately post right after Person "A" said something.
Like I feel bad he got ripped off but geez. To follow them in every post accomplishes what?
Anyway Im done...ive killed enough time.
Say it with me, "Its not what you know...It's what you can prove"
i don't know, but i bought a bumper off of Joe Schmoe and never got it, can any one help me?

Sorry man if I sounded pissed, I'm not at all. I really don't get pissed at people for having an opinion, it's all god. And belive me I have been ripped off many times, not by sellers but installers. It's the worst feeling.
