I'm looking at this 98 z24 5spd, and i drove it today. So and it felt kinda weird when i put it into 3rd and hit the gas, it kinda felt sluggish or something, i have 2000 2.4 auto now, and it doesnt feel like that, i know its an auto but, they both have the getrag, so figured it would be close to the same. They want $3,900 for it and 172,000 miles. Should i worry about the trany, or is it the clutch or what.
WOW thats a lot of miles. Id pass if i were you

I'd offer then $500 for it. Seriously. I bought my black car (check reg) as is with 60k miles for $4500...last year.

It's actually probably a combination of the two, the clutch probably being the worse of the two. The tranny might have some problems being so old, and the clutch is probably gone. That is really expensive for so many miles, I don't care how nice the body is. Ask for a drop in that price.

Brandon no offense, your Cav is very, very sweet. but under all that aftermarket is still a 1996 Z24 with over 100,000 miles. tack on that its been heavily modded and you live here with me in import loving So Cal. it will be nearly impossible to get $10.000 for that car. you can get a brand new one with a warranty for that price.
This poor sap tried that last year. he had a ram-air hood and thought he'd find someone stupid enough to pay $12,000 grand for his 1996 Z. 9 months later he reduced it to $8000, then a few months later $6500. a year and a half later it's still for sale but now he wants a more acceptible price of $3900. i still think he's asking too much.
