Attorney General + Mantapart =

A PAIN IN THE ASS! I will post the text first then the pictures/document I sent Mantapart. This has been my dealings with Mantapart. I know of several others that have been screwed. Just wanted to share my story with the org.

Hello Mr. Permenter,

Below is an email that I received from Mantapart. It looks like the will
provide you with another flywheel and clutch. It also states that they
reimbursed you for one clutch release bearing after it didn't function
properly. Please let me know if you are going to accept the new clutch and
flywheel.

Thanks,
Anne M. Davis

Mantapart says below:

RE: Josh Permenter

There is only a fitment problem with the clutch and flywheel we sold Mr.
Permenter there is nothing wrong with the actual parts. We received it from
another supplier to fill his order and were unaware of this also . We were
advised by the supplier that it only needed shimmed with .060" shims between
the clutch cover and flywheel and it would release fine, right now it is too
tight on the clutch disk. We advised him of that over amonth ago, and dont
know if he ever tried it or not.? We will gladly provide another flywheel
and clutch to him with this mod to solve the problem, now that we also know
why it didnt function properly, sorry. This was a new product for us and we
advised Mr. Permenter of that and reimbursed him for one clutch release
bearing already after it didnt function properly. Let us know how he wishes
to proceed, thanks tech@mantapart

I left you a voicemail.

I was never reimbursed for a throw out bearing in the way they
described. When I purchased the parts from them it was supposed to
come with a throw out bearing like all clutch kits. Here is a email
they sent me in regards to this:

_________________________________________________________________________

"Payment Details
Amount: $200.00 USD
Transaction ID: 85W77636DL257633S
Subject: CLUTCH ORDER
Note: OUR WAREHOUSE SENT US THE WRONG TOB, YOUR CLUTCH/FLYWHEEL
ASSM. WILL BE THERE FRI. BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO BUY A TOB UNIT AT A
PARTS STORE OR DEALER, SO WE ARE REFUNDING YOU THE PRICE FOR THE TOB.
WE ARE EXTREMELY SORRY BUT OUR SHIPIPNG DEPT. ONLY CAUGHT IT WHEN THEY
WERE BOXING YOUR PARTS TO SHIP YESTERDAY. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF WE CAN
BE OF ANY FURTHER HELP, THANKS
SALES@MANTAPART"

__________________________________________________________________________

I believe I sent a copy of this email to you. Now, Mantapart refunded
me $200.00. The actual cost was $277. I never recieved the rest of my
money that was promised on this email:

_________________________________________________________________________

"Buy it - we'll send you another $77, sorry,

That is all fine and dandy but you can't buy it unless you buy the slave
cylinder as well. I spent two hours calling about every place trying to find
it for the eco and the 2.4 with no luck. I will forking out $277 bucks for a
slave cylinder with a throw out bearing at 5:30 eastern. Unless you have a
better idea?

Thanks

Josh"

_______________________________________________________________

I sent you a copy of this email as well. Now, onto the "fitment". I
admit they sent me a email about the spacers. BUT, I will not take the
chance of blowing another $300 throw out bearing on a whim Mantpart
has. The thing is, when the clutch and flywheel was bolted down
correctly the gap was near .75". I don't think .60-.62" is quite near
enough to the actual distance to make me attempt to ruin another part.

_______________________________________________________________

"Hi- talked to Tim briefly today... he said to try this first. Put a
.060-.062"washer under each of the pressure plate bolts- between the
cover and the
flywheel so you are spacing the pressure plate up from the flywheel? Bolt down
the disk and cover and then easure where the finger height is . He will try
to find out more from our tech tonite, there may also be a spacing issue on the
tob, and he said he will give you some parts credit for the Tob problems once
we find out whats going on. Sorry again no one is here to help right now, but
first of next wek they should all be back.
cheryl@mantapart"

_______________________________________________________________

Mantapart also offered me store credit due to the cost of the throw
out bearing issue that is franky there fault. Sending out parts that
were not TEST fitted that I just found out is something that should
not be done!! Now that upsets me! Does it make any sense that I was a
expensive guinea pig? They need to come up with a better deal than
that before this lands them in court.

I want what I posted first off, OR, store credits IN WRITING and
notorized from Mantapart and a new clutch. The flywheel is fine and
functioning correctly.

_____________________________________________________________

"Tim has been in & out of town, he has a very sick father in Fla., but there
are some spacers being made for the tob to get them closer to the clutch and
instructions are done on shimming the press. plate. We hope to have the parts
this week yet from the machine shop and on the way to you overnight UPS. Then
your problems should be over, sorry for the delays.

I never recieved any parts. Overnighted or not. It sounds mean, but if
you own a company, the business does not stop because somebody is
sick. Obviously he has workers taken care of the business while he is
away. That should not have been a issue. I believe you have this email
too.

______________________________________________________________

"Josh-Tm did look into this last week and unfortunately has again been on the
road, but we think we know what is wrong. The fellow who did all the prep on
the clutch/flywheel and setup will be in here on Weds. to go over it with Tim
and it looks like we might have to replace the flywheel with another one with
the correct mods, thats the best I can tell you until Weds. But as soon as the
guy gets in here then Tim will let you know for sure what needs done and we
will take care of it for you, OK/ Thanks

______________________________________________________________

This is the last email I ever recieved from Mantapart. Seems like they
promised alot and didn't come thru with any of it.

Please advise me with a email when you have read this.

Thank you,

Joshua Permenter

Mr. Permenter,

Below is an email from Mantapart stating you should receive soon. Please let
me know when you do receive the rest of your payment.

We reimbused them for one release bearing unit, but will send a second
payment and another flywheel that will address the clearance issue with the
clutch which should solve the problem completely since they seem to be
unable to make it work.
We are sorry for the delay in response, thanks Mantapart In a message dated

Mrs Davis,

I will let you know when I have recieved this. But my address has
changed so I hope they do not send it to my old address in
Jacksonville, FL. Also, I have stated to Mantapart over and over that
the problem does not lie in the flywheel, it lies with the clutch. The
flywheel they originally sent me is on the car as I type this along
with the original (Stock clutch). A flywheel is not going to do any
good in this matter. The problem lies with the teeth on the pressure
plate being near to .050 - .75 inches from the throw out bearing. Not
the .06 shims that they claim. I sent Mantapart a indepth email with
pictures in regards to the problem of the clutch. They will not
listen. They will not return my phone calls or emails.

I will not accept what they are trying to send me as "reimbursement"
for there "experimental clutch" that I have wasted near to $1400 on.
Please relay and forward this message to Mantapart (if you haven't
been) in regards to this. Their "deal" is a start to what never should
have happened.

Once again, please notify me when you have read this and relayed.

Thank you,

Joshua Permenter

Thank you for the email. I will verify the address change and remind
Mantapart that the problem is not with your flywheel, it is a problem with
the clutch.

"Mantapressure and Stockpressure": This is a measurement of the stock vs mantapart pressure plates.
---The stock pressure plate was a little under 2.0 inches. I think the correct term is 1 13/16's (but I am not that great at reading a measure)
---The mantapart pressure plate was a little over 1.5 inchs.

"Mantapartclutch and Stock clutch": This is the measurement of the stock vs. mantapart clutch
---The Mantapart clutch measured at .75 or less of a inch.
---The stock clutch measured at 1 inch.
Now this is not including spring heights.

"mantaclutchbolted and stockclutchbolted":
---The Mantapart clutch is bolted to the flywheel. Notice the teeth of the pressure plate sucked down below the level and the level is sitting directly on the pressure plate.
---The stock clutch is bolted to the flywheel. Notice that the level is sitting on the teeth of the flywheel and not the pressure plate.

I got screwed awile back on anftermarket clutch setup also. Except mine was from
A. C. T. They didn't do anything either to help me out at all, and they said that ASE certified techician that installed the clutch didn't do it properly. Technician happens to be one of my best friends whome i've seen install probly 50 clutch set ups. in the end I ended up with a 400.00 paper weight.
Hope all goes well with mantapart. I also ended back with a factory clutch.

I was the one that referred him to Mantapart for this part. I really feel it was a matter of the wrong parts got shipped. The bad part is Mantaprt did not step up and properly take care of the problem. This would be the first time I have ever had a problem with them. I will still recommend them for parts. They still make some of the best parts for our cars. It is sad that this happened. I wish it never did.
Re: Attorney General + Mantapart =

The only problem I am having is the quality of service. The flywheel looks and performs great. I bet if I used my stock pressure plate with their clutch it would work fine. But I can't take the chance of blowing another $300 part.

They also sent me the parts on time. They didn't have a problem sending me my parts it was after the money was sent that they didn't care.

I have heard of sucess stories with Mantapart and those not so successful. Take it with a grain of salt. More negative that postive from what i have seen. I did order from them once with no problem but i did COD. That is what I would recommend if you do anything with them.
