Just wondering how many of you have owned more then one J in your life....do you regret buying a different version of pretty much the same car?
i found a newer cavalier (moving from OHV 2.2 to an ecotec) i really like and im debating on if i should purchase another J, or dish out 5-7 grand more for a better car (probably ss 2.4 cobalt)
thanks in advance for any comments/advice!
Got 2 right now. A beater 89 and my 04
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
^^yea i forgot to add about that.....buying the cav would leave money to mod (prob GM s/c for the eco), but the ss will stay mostly stock
hmm id say eco with s/c, that would be nice
Good luck on getting the super charger! Who knows when it'll be here, I've been waitng for 2 years now and I keep hearing " Its coming" Well so is the end of the world now as to which gets here first who knows.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.

1992 1993 1994 1999 1999 2001 and the engines are still all great. i heart cavaliers
of course the older ones have rust but jbodys are beasts....they last for a long time.

-97 Cavalier 2 door base 2.2L manual
-2005 Sunfire 2 door eco, auto, A/C
other cars:
72 Olds Vista cruiser (just like the one off that 70's show, but with much more rust, lasted until 95)
81 olds cutlass cruiser (traded in for the 95 sunfire)
91 Chev 1/2 ton
01 " "
83 Cimmaron
89 (coupe) and 90 (sedan) Cavi
97 Fire
I've owned:
'90 2.2 3 speed auto, 4 door
'99 2.2 3 speed auto, coupe
'03 2.2 Eco, 5 speed manual, LS Sport coupe
I've also driven various other Cavalier my father and his wife owned:
'84 Cavalier RS Coupe, 2.0 3 speed auto
'88 Cavalier 4 door, 2.2 I think, loaded, factory wheels and power windows, etc.
All were great cars. My personal opinion is this: Unless you're buying the SS Supercharged Cobalt, you're just as well off with a Cavalier, especially the later Ecotec models. The service manager at the dealer I bought my '03 from claims he prefers the Cavaliers over the Cobalts, as far as complaints/repairs go. I don't know why he'd lie.
Regardless, you're gonna have to go with whatever car you like best.

well i dont regret it at all.... learn different things...
83 cadillac cimmaron
99 chevy cavalier...
same general thing, but different suspensions a bit, and different engines....
way different handling as well...
My first car was a 99 Cav 2200 automatic (slug)
Now I'm in an 05 Sunfire 5 speed (non-slug)
If you're going to do it find one with a lot of options. I love the upgrade I made. The cav had no power and the tan interior. Now I have the dark interior, power everything, sunroof, and 5 speed. I think the new fires are truly beautifully designed. I also think the newer cavaliers look dumb though.
For the money it's a GREAT deal, but you HAVE to be in it for the long run (no changing your mind in a year), or its not worth the money. sorry I know thats obvious tho.

I had a base 02 Cavie (2.2), but when I test drove the 02 LS Sport with the ecotec, it was love at first drive...so sold the 2.2 and bought the LS Sport... he now has 61,000 miles and has been the best car ever... totally reliable and fun to drive... have looked at the new cobalts and the quality stinks on them... test drove the supercharged SS and was not impressed... I'm keeping my Cavie, although he may get a new playmate when the Skys come out
ive owned 3 Js since ive been on the boards. never regreted buying them.. i still miss my 03 LS sport but wasnt having luck with them and the fact with any accident they were usually totalled out. but the 03 tibby i bought is helping me cope with the loss lol.

scruf currently owns the black car(doomie, first gen, FOR SALE! PLEASE BUY IT!) and the white second gen vert. he intends to own nothing but Js...if i have nothing to do with it, that is. i might have him reconsider that statement in a couple of years when i'm looking for a replacement for the corolla...
