2006 GMSCB Announcement
Well folks, here it is, what you’ve been waiting for, the announcement of the 2006 GMSCB.
Location: Marion, IL
Date: Aug. 25-27
Thus far, we have the following tentative schedule worked out:
Friday:
- “Fast and Furious” night at
I-57 Dragstrip. $5 Admission; Test & Tune, Grudge Racing 6 - midnight.
Saturday:
AM – Meet and Greet at Williamson Co. Fairgrounds. Further events to be added as interest is shown
PM – Drag Racing at
I-57 Dragstrip. Cost and schedule to be announced.
Sunday:
- Car Show at Williamson Co. Fairgrounds
- Awards
As with last year, there will be no host hotel this year. However, we are currently populating and will be releasing shortly a list of hotels in the area. We are taking into consideration comments from last year's bash regarding the locations of the hotels and their proximity to one another, so that hopefully, this list will include larger sized hotels that are capable of accommodating a larger portion of GMSCB participants, and will be nearer to one another.
As always, we at the GMSCB appreciate your patience in waiting for this announcement, and encourage everyone to continue to visit the
GMSCB Website for further updates and details as they are finalized.

we're not complaining or anything.... just want to make sure those of your who are coordinating this are aware of it.... cuz that'll affect the turn out.

so saturday night...is that a public night, and we're joining, or are we renting the track?
also...will we know what kind of cost will be involved for registration and such or is that still a little ways off?
I like the timing of this event...still be warm out, but not interfering with the millions of car shows in the summer

i'll be finished by then as well... but when you are in the teaching profession... there is no escaping the schedule of school
late august works good for me, my car will finally be dialed in and perfected at that point.

234.97 miles; 3 hours, 49 minutes for us Louisvillians....Shouldn't be too bad of a trip...Hopefully work will let me off that Friday night and I'm game!
Karo and I are going to Hawaii in July so we have a small chance of going since the rest of my leave from work will be saved for our trip to Florida in October.
Due to its time, location, and that the details were released too late to make plans for work, I wish all of you a great time and I am sorry that I (and probably Karo) won't be able to make it.
That would be a VERY long drive for me, and I have school starting that Monday, the 28th, and I would have just gotten back from my cruise the weekend before. At least I'm going to the JCO bash in June.

I'm not missing the largest car show in the world that happens right in my backyard. According to the date above, it's scheduled for the same weekend as the Woodward Dream Cruise.
To make me interested, there has to be a raffle for parts AND GM has to make an appearance with their performance division at the track.
Sorry. I'll pass for the 4th year in a row.
