I have been on this site for 2 years. I know out of all the members here, there are only a handfull of positive/knowledgable members. And there are many negative members, but none of this compared to the "outside world". I posted up my car on a local auto forum in the new member's section, and got so much hate for it being a jbody. I mean, I knew a lot of people didn't like jbodies, but I really couldnt believe how much hate there was for them. I'm sure most of you have been through this, but it is definatly a blow to the ego when you put in time and money into your car, and people just hate so much cuz it's a jbody.

but yeh ive heard alot of @!#$ too.. but alot of the people i hung around used to dog on me so much cuz there all running parent bought v8 trucks or v6 at the least.. mustangs and camaros also.. but the stuff got old quick and then when one of em said he wanted to race(v6 stang), i figured why not.. ended up takin care of him pretty good and that kinda turned their view on it lol. i still hear alot of from them but its mostly joking around giving me a hard time, and alot of them have gotten interested in it wondering what im doing next, etc
Of course people are gonna hate cuz its different and they dont see it much. Honestly i think a jbody is a pretty unknown sport compact to alot of people and when they see it there first reaction is to diss it cuz all tehy know is their grandma drives it slow to get herself around.. or its just a grocery gas saver.. not much to it..they just dont know.. it underestimated

or u get people second thinking ur car which is good too.
but there is always gonna be people who hate it.. thats why u build ur car for you and no one else. if someone has a problem with it i always say they can pay me to fix it.

If you get around real serious car people, you'll realize that it doesn't matter what car you drive. As long as you enjoy it and have actually done everthing correctly and it looks good, or performs well thats all that matters. (Reads didn't cheap out or do something stupid) Those are the type of car people you want to associate yourself with.
I'm pretty much the only J at any of the autocross events I go to. The only people that poke fun at my car are the new people to autocross usually with their overclassed cars, the reaction when you beat their time by a decent clip keeps me going back for more. Most of the veterans are the run what you brung crowd and if you can hold your own on the autocross course thats all that really matters to them.

Only people who are basicly kidds rag on someones car. Most adults realize that regardless of how bad you may think it looks know that its not their car and they didn't pay for it so they don't rag, rather they find the things they do like and make nice about the rest.
Its your car, your paying for it, your building it, ef them if they don't like it.

modded cars arent that popular here
its been growing some
but apparently ct is slow to all trends
and when you look at the J-body in the automotive world
its pretty low on the food chain
somehow i manage to get alot of postive comments on other general forums. but no matter how nice the comment is they will add, "but it's still a sunfire"
