Maybe it's just me-but I've noticed a lot of these cavs ending up as someone's beater.
A co-worker of mine just picked up an 03 Cav coupe with 54k for 5100, to keep his 05 Mustang out of bad weather.
Another one picked up an 04 sedan as a 3rd car.
2 more are grad presents (though those don't really count)
It just seems a bit early to be the 00s version of the Ford Escort-but then again they have no resale value ....
Your thoughts?
Mine is my daily driver. Then again it's my only car and I'm only 17. Around here they are mostly DD's, not because the people have other show cars at home, but because they just make good cars to drive to work and whatnot. My car is all around my fun car, my weekend car, my track car, my show car, and my DD that gets me to work/school all at the same time lol.
I bought one as a beater... it was less then a year old at the time, an 04 model sold new in 05, I bought it 11 monthes old with 18K miles on it for $6,000..... is there any better beater then that hahah

Hey, that is a good price-def worth it.
It funny you have an 04...I haven't decided what to do with my 04 yet.
So many ideas...but still no clue.
I'm just glad my last few are almost paid off...

It's funny you mention that you are in high school (at least I hope so)
There are a bunch of cavs of these years in high school parking lots...I'm guessing that would be a good thing.
at this point Cavaliers have been out of production long enough that pretty much all of them are cheap to buy. Thats your answer right there. I know a lot of people who have owned late 90s neons for beaters too... same reason.
I have a 05 Sunfire, and I'm only 16.
I wanted a Cav ever since I saw the Ls sports, but looks like I landed close enough

is this new to you?
Nah, not so much new- maybe they just took longer to show up around here ( and get nice and cheap)
A buddy of mine's brother who is still in HS has noticed it too.
And he wants me to sell my car to him....lol.

True-but one of the major reasons they were so cheap was that nobody wanted to touch a car with so many problems...
Head gaskets, stuff that would always stop working, and the fact that some Neons were already rusting after like 3 years...
Anything that could have gone wrong on our 95-did.
Yeah I am still in high school. There are a few really old beat up cavs/sunfires at my school. One of my kinda-friends has an '03 but isn't into modding it. Honestly I have one of the nicer cars out of our school, not to brag, but most other kids rides are junk because they are poor or just dont care about anything.
well there cheap, reliable, and get good gas millage, and fairly cheap to fix when stuff does break
it makes for a perfect beater
cavaliers (and sunfires) have always been beaters... this isn't anything new.
I bought one cus I got a good price on it and it didn't need much work, and I can pay it off in under two years. Plus I've been looking for a 4 door sedan with a 5 speed. Preferred a 00-02 Cavalier, but I'll settle with an 04 with 26k for $6500
This way at 23 I have a reliable vehicle that's easy to work on and no car payment, just insurance.

My 03 is my "DAILY DRIVER" not a beater. It is a LS SPORT SEDAN like my 02, but it does get driven in the winter, Just because it is a winter car does not mean it cannot be kept up.
I wish the winter did not do so much corrosive damage to cars in MI or I would love to drive my 02 year round. Driving in the snow in a FWD car is fun.

Yep, hate that MI weather...
So far, my 04 hasn't seen salt...yet.
Nice 02, by the way.
Seems like everyone is getting a 03+ sedan...good idea though...
Might consider replacing the wagon with one...

true......it's just some people don't want to accept the reality
