I recently been trying to sell a header and intake and I have tons of people email me, haggle the price, I agree and never hear from them again. I had one guy go through the trouble of me getting him all the specs on it that doesn't even matter, taking like 10 extra pics from what I had, haggling back and forth on the price, having me pack it up in a box and go to the PO to get a exact shipping quote, then finally making a deal together ... and I never hear back from him. One guy told me after the usual stuff he will send a paypal in 2 weeks when his check comes in and I never heard back from him. Its been over a week since he was suppose to buy it and he won't even answer my emails or have the decency to tell me he changed his mind. The worst part is in those times I turn other people away saying I have a buyer. He was very happy too to get the deal then he pulls this. lol. 1 or 2 people flaking out I understand ... but never expected this many lol.
welcome to the world wide web.

I've noticed this as well. I group these people in the same category as the "I'll think about it", "my credit card is in my other pair of pants", and "I'll discuss with with my wife" ones. These people will go as far as they can without actually committing to anything, and then tuck tail and run as if wasting your time wasn't a problem. Some might have genuine excuses, but my theory on the rest is that it's like entertainment -- their lives are so empty that they fill their days by going through the motions of business they never intend to complete.
The place I work at sells, among other things, old brochures for automobiles. I can think of at least a couple of "customers" who sound like mentally delayed 40-year-olds calling from their parents' basement, and who get me to run around and search for the most obscure crap in our store, and rack up our toll-free phone bill just to say "I'll send a check" for $10 or $15 that never arrives. Then the next day they'll call again to ask for photos, or to discuss whether the $10 brochure really is "nice" as if that just occured to them. Sure it is. Just send the damn check.

First one that pays gets it. I dont hold anything for anyone. The only way to sell thigns on the web anymore.
People jsut get to crazy with the idea, lets make a deal then piss off without paying.
I am guilty of this to a certain extent but when I don't get back to someone it's usually because of an unexpected thing(ticket,or bills)or if the seller and I can't agree on a price.Specs and pics should be given anyways so you don't have to go through all that..Don't pack up an item until the cash is in hand or your bank account.

it works the other way to when someone has something for sale. i've e-mailed them and get no response or i get one and i try to meet up with them and never hear from them again.
Just out of curiosity...what was the shipping quote? for just the header?
thats how many people are on the org. i hate trying to sell things on here.
ya...thats the org for ya.
but i get alot of PM's where people are a little pissed with me because i NEVER check my email, and they say they've emailed me countless times with no response.
resolution: PM me, lol.
I wish I knew the answer. I did the same thing a couple of times when selling parts. I even boxed up my RK front bumper because they said they wanted it ASAP and no return emails after that. The best is when the buyer wants a part for practically nothing

I have had that happen too. I was on a business trip and was an hour away from them to pickup a spoiler and they never got back to me. Damn I wanted that too

I only buy things from people on the org in person. I got my subs that way, and I'm getting a LO manifold that way pretty soon. The guy I'm gunna buy the manifold from (at a meet coming up) has a buyer for some cams, but he's having the same problem you guys are talkijng about. I told him that if the buyer cops out and he still has them come time for the meet, to just throw them in his tunk, and If I have the $$$ when we meet, I'll buy the cams too. Doing things that way just seems to be easier. (although I'm gunna need to get one of them adapter flanges online)
It's the same idea as going to a car dealership and acting like your seriously going to buy a car, and then saying "let me sleep on it", and never coming back (wich A LOT of people do). It gives people the feeling of being able to do/buy something they know they can't, it's all pretend to make themselves feel better for a little bit.
Im guilty of doing this 1 time. Other than that what I usually do is inquire about it a few times, about specific stuff pertaining to what I want to buy. Then Ill check to see if I have the money for the part or whatever it is, and if I dont, or its something thats pretty expensive, I ask if the seller can take a downpayment and hold the part, and I usually have the money within the next 2 checks.
My big problem is that I can never get away from work, this makes it hard to ship out my stuff that I sell. Anyone who's bought from me has gone through this, and I hope everything I sent out recently is arrived. SORRY!
My $.02
My favorate is some of the haggling people try to get away with...
I had a complete neon rear disk coversion for sale, the machined brakets, SS lines, new hardwear, brake shows, brand new powerslot rotors, brnad new calipers, brand new hawk pads, all kids of stuff, everythign was there... asking price was $500.... one guy told me he'd give me $200 for the conversion IF I would install it when he came out to pick it up
There more someone tries to haggle the price the less likely they are to buy. The people that truly have the money will pay what your are asking if it's reasonably priced in the first place. I've had great luck selling on here and I usually price items which I feel is reasonable plus a little wiggle room. I usually run all my prices through friends first and then make post the ad.
I had a guy doing this for the underdrive pully I was selling. He was e-mailing back and forth pretty quick, price, shipping, etc. Once it was all settled, I told him the Paypal address to send to, and that was that, never heard anything again. *shrug*
Great news, I sold the header and intake
Finally someone followed through. Props to T W W for being a man of his word.

Yep. I think it has to be some sort of game for some people to haggle the price ... maybe thats what they enjoy then once its over they don't give a @!#$. Either that, or maybe some people are starved for attention and this is how they get it ... from a seller? wtf.

I honestly don't think I'll ever hold anything for anyone anymore unless I recognize their username and they have a good rep.

Needed to for shipping quote.

The lady weighed it and showed $19 for parcel post and $20 for priority. Then she pulled out a tape measurer and said there would be an extra fee for the box since it was over-sized. It all came out to about $24. But when I showed up the second time to actually mail it, it was a different person and he only weighed it (it was a 18lb pack) and charged the $19 without the extra over-size fee.

One guy offered me $20 for the header lol.

= me messing up a quote.
We've all been there.
I've had mostly good deals with people on here.... But I tried getting a lip shipped, and never received a quote. So instead, just went else where for it.
At least in the end... Nobody's getting ripped off any money. Time, yes... Money, no. So there is a bit of positive there.
