Well, there is a chance I may be buying my 4th J.
I was looking around the local dealerships earlier in June, when I went to see what "Earl the Perl" had on his lot. He is a good dealer, I bought my GTP off him and he did a bunch of little things for me for free after the sale that most dealers wouldn't do for what was a 9 year old car at the time.
Anyhow, he a green, 2 door 96 Fire on the back of the lot that said $999obo. I asked to have a peek, and I did. It was a little rough, but hey it is 12 years old. It started, ran, the tranny shifted in and out of gear. I looked him and said $400 and I take it. he told me if he didn't get a better offer by July, I could have it. Sure enough, he just called and said if I want it, it's mine. Come and get it on Wednesday.
Anyhow, what do you think I should do here? Could this car work a cheap daily driver to keep the kms off the Sierra, and less of my money going through the gas tank? Or will it likely be too much of a headache?
Thanks.

if it drives ok, then i dont see what the problem is. its a $400 car.....drive it til it dies then send it off to a crusher where you'll get half your money back at least. sounds like a win-win situation
^^ exactly. i know people around here pay close to 350 for junkyards plus they come and remove it for you. doesnt sound like a bad deal to me.
or while you drive it, try selling it for a profit....
kbb.com puts my 96 sunfire with 170k miles on it at $1000 in fair condition.

SO EVERYTHING!
prices on Js have been rising steadily for the past year....at least in my area....due to the gas crisis. im willing to be you could get 1500 in a year's time, assuming it is still in decent driveable condition
If you can fix it yourself, then you should be fine...
Oh ya, I forgot about this thread. Turns out he sold it for a bit more, so I am SOL on that deal.
