These facts are well known by some, but ignored by most. The later included myself until not too long ago. I was blind to cancer because it hadn't effect me personally. In the past 5 years though 3 people I care dearly about have been diagnosed. Two of them have successfully undergone treatment and are now cancer free....the other is still fighting.
Team Vision Racing is proud to partner with Stand Up 2 Cancer to raise awareness and funding for cancer research. Please visit
http://www.standup2cancer.org/teams?tq=Team+Vision+Racing and join our team. Our initial goal is $25,000 by December 31, 2009. Please help us accomplish this first goal and each of our subsequent goals.
You may wonder how a racing team can raise money to fight cancer. Well here's the skinny of our plan, so to speak. You donate, We race, Everyone wins. That's as simple as it gets....but I'll break it down a bit.
We are encouraging two types of donations currently, ONE TIME and PER RUN. The one time donation is self explanatory. You go to our team and donate then let us know. It's as simple as that.
The per race is a little more complex, and only for those with some patience and willingness to give a lot more in the long run. We are asking you to pledge a set amount for every time we go down the track in competition. You can choose to pledge for every run we make instead, but please see the stats below before opting for this option.
To give you an idea of the amount you could end up donating here's some stats from TVR's last competition season, 2005, with only one car...
Total Runs Made: 202 with one car
Total Runs in Competition: 78 with one car
Total Donation at $1 per competition run: $78
Total Donation at $1 per run: $202
If we keep that number up with 3 cars like we want your donation would be tripled to $234 at the end of the season. That's is why this is the method for the PATIENT big givers LOL.
Please help us out in our quest. There is no reason we cannot see cancer cured in our lifetime. Here's one final fact for you to go to bed to or start your day with...
Polio was cured when one man, Ron Gilreath, starting asking the people of the United States to donate one dime, 10 small cents, on January 3, 1938 to what officially became the March of Dimes in 1979. One of the most feared diseases of the 20th century was effectively wiped out when 2 cures were announced on April 12, 1955.
If we can cure polio, we can cure cancer.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.
